got her this morning. had zero issues at pick up, in fact my MA was pretty awesome. been out driving and went for lunch. decided to be nice and let hubby drive her for a little









a little gift from my MA....after he made me promise to head to the dragon next year

 

I got fed up. The MA says I have to use the temporary tag until the Plate transfer is completed. I hate not having my "St1g" plate, so I put it on anyway. Also put on my M7 strut tower brace. First Mod!!! Next the Hella's go on.

What are we doing to pass the time while our Lil Ragtop is in the paint booth? Simple, I'm bugging the hell out of my MA. We are having, at her suggestion, the stripes applied at the dealers. That way, I can get something slightly different, plus she claims that he does a much better job. I've finally found something that I hope will work. Dual 7" stripes, with 1/2" outer strip all in Chili Red. It will go down the hood like the factory stripe does, except that it will continue to the bumper. Same in the rear, as well as cover the boot handle.
Now, that's what I've been doing.

 

Hang in there GG. We had a miserable delivery experience (5 hrs) when EVERYTHING HAD BEEN SETTLED PRIOR. All there was to do was paperwork and go. Followed by a return trip to get the stripes that were not on the order two days later. That day was a 8 hour day. We were initially told that they would NOT know when the stripe guy would be there, however, once checked in at 8am, we were told "oh yeah. he's coming here first thing". He wasn't. So we kept doing these little side trips only to return and he still wasnt there. Finally we asked someone from the service dept as he strolled by and he said- " well all of that is very strange because all the stripes go through me. I'll look into it". so he came back and said stripe guy was on the way. Finally the sales guy got to us and said. "it aint happenin till close to 5pm". ugh we were livid. I have never heard so many people take responsibility when it was clearly not in their area of responsibility to do so. But we can only respond to what we were told moment by moment.

Anyway. I never ranted on here about it cause I was too fired up. It has been smooth sailing since but I am dreading working with this dealer and the service dept. They get one more chance at an actual scheduled service. I have another dealer available about equal distance away (1 hour). And another one within two hours. I can move on if needed.

Anyway, keep the grin going.

 

Well I managed not to speed while driving the 35 miles to the dealership, I did completely miss the exit... But it meant that thanks to the U-Turn the GTi had exactly 34,000 miles on it...

My Countryman made it to the port at Bremerhaven on 2/25. I had two ships, Tamerlane and Chesapeake Highway that came and went. To date I have not seen any information indicating the vehicle made either ship :( The bad news is the next ship that will be there heading to Baltimore will not be there until the 9th. The wait seems soooooooooooooo long!!

 

Do you want me to go look for you? Bremerhaven is only a 3 hour drive from me.

 

Hahahaha! Way to rub it in. The only way for me to see anything is from the WebCam.

 

Least you get updates on where your vehicle is. I'll get a VIN from my MA, and then the next time I get an update will be when it's arrived at the dealers for pickup. So enjoy the little things.

 

Well - My Mini Roadster seemed stuck for several days. I randomly called the automated ask-mini and they say that I have now entered the body shop and am scheduled for a 3/6/2013 completion!

Thank you all for the kind words... Weaf, GG, Deli, PsiChick, and everybody else who took delivery this weekend (don't get mad if I didn't list you - there were A LOT of deliveries over the last two days!) Your new MINIs look fantastic - and YAY!!!!!

For those of you just going in, yes the wait is brutal.... But in the end it's worth it, and it'll be many years before you go through it again
