Hey Chimera - I just had a call from my MA at MINI Burlington. My first MINI will likely arrive at the dealer 5/22 evening. After dealer additions, I should be able to take delivery on Friday, 5/23. Very excited!

My boat (Tulane) just came into view on MarineTraffic.com

Watching it pull into the Panama canal; hopefully it will soon be on the webcams!

So what seems to be the average wait time on an order now?

Debating placing an order on a 2013 Clubman S to replace my 2003 Cooper S.

6-8 weeks from the Midwest. My JCW Hardtop was ordered April 22, QA'd May 2 and has been sitting at the factory ever since.

Ours have now gone into production, due for completion next Friday. I suspect its not actually in the factory yet, that takes about 8 days. The status seems to change to in production a little before it actually gets to the factory.

Other good news is the lounge is now showing the right options.

I see you're in Mountain View. What dealer did you go with? I got a great deal through Mini of Concord.

We went to MINI of Stevens Creek, just like all the previous MINIs (well, they used to be MINI of Mountain View).

How good of a deal is a great deal?

[QUOTE=TraceH;3743409]I managed $300 over

over invoice? I got a $2,550 discount (including the $500 credit for the spring cleaning event). My car was on the higher side, so maybe there was more room to negotiate, but I'm surprised they wouldn't take something off the car. Since you haven't picked it up yet, maybe there's still time to bring down the price.

Mine is definitely on the lower side of spec. The local dealer was asking $2000 over invoice. Could be because I'm on the west coast and you're on the east coast.

I'm surprised to hear how different the market is out west, it would almost be worth it to buy from an east coast dealer and have it shipped. I contacted 6 dealers and gave each of them the same specs, they all gave me at least a $1,000 off and most were willing to try and beat my lowest offer.

I had a typo in that last post. Local dealer was asking $2,000 over MSRP

Back from my trip but still can't get a delivery date nailed down. Maybe tomorrow, maybe not. At any rate, I was in the area so I stopped by the dealer to at least look at my car for the first time.

They did a sloppy job cleaning it--greasy fingerprints all over the place; someone used a tire shine spray and got the overspray all over the black plastic trim; cosmoline dripping out of the hood... but I didn't see any dealer-installed swirls or scratches, so that's the important part.

Bad cellphone picture, but there it is, next to an M3 in Frozen Red matte paint.

Sorry to hear the above. I'm the type that believes, do it right or don't do it at all. I will be having a conversation with my MA about all these type pre-delivery points.

The White Silver looks great, kavatski.

Awesome! I'm still in England but just got an email from MINI of Burlington that my Coupe has arrived! So excited, but I won't get to see it until the 30th. You might see mine there when you pick yours up on Friday. Enjoy the MINI delivery experience, the first one is always the best.

Mr. T: I agree, especially when the difference between doing this detail job vs. the kind I expected would have been about five minutes with a microfiber and some QD spray. It's raining all week anyway, so I'm not going to dwell on it.

I hope your experience is much better. Must be down to the last few days now before yours is ready for delivery.

My roadster landed in Baltimore on 5/19. The Tamesis left today from Baltimore on its way to Savannah, GA. I'm sure its at the BMW VDC right now. Not sure how long it will be there, or how long the transit time is from Baltimore to Chicago after its released from VDC. I'm assuming the middle of next week or perhaps, the week of June 3rd. Still not bad for ordering early April.

Well, it's official, the TAMESIS has left Baltimore and is on its merry way to Savannah, GA. Let's see how long my roadster sits in "Charm City" before it makes it way to "The Windy City." The thumb twiddling continues.

I have been checking to see my status in the owners lounge.. My question is how long does it stay in the "On Order" status? When does it move to production?

Skip the owners lounge and call 1866 ask mini (or is it 1800)? They have more accurate info. The owners lounge is notoriously behind in their info

I think the reason is not because of East vs West coast. Rather it is because of the model. Yours is a cabrio when the other person has a hardtop. Don't know the situation, but it may be the cabrio may not be selling well on the East or other factors other than geography.

I understand you indicated you saved $2,550 (discount+$500 spring cleaning). What was your amount over invoice before the $500 spring cleaning sale discount?

It's 866 -- and the best advice I was given was to call there and ask to speak to a representative (although mine seemed a bit befuddled). I found the website to be as much as a week behind, and never less than a couple days.

If you put too much faith in the OL tracker, you'll be disappointed. My Chili Red JCW Hardtop showed up as a blue Cooper 2 days after the order was submitted, which my MA said would happen since my car was replacing one already ordered by the dealer. Two days after that, the correct car was listed as being on order - and 2 days after that, the OL showed scheduled for production, gave me the VIN and showed the correct list of equipment and options.

The car was completed 6 days later, but the OL still showed scheduled for production - which it still shows today, 3 weeks later! So, I guess I'd say the tracking system is great for confirming your order has been received and checking to make sure all the specs are correct, but beyond that, it's pretty worthless.

You're much better off calling 1-866-275-6464 (1-866-ASK-MINI) or checking with your MA for updates, but sometimes a car gets stuck in Never-neverland, where no one knows what's going on (that doesn't mean there's a problem). For example, my car has been sitting at Oxford for a full 3 weeks after QA for no explicable reason, but no trouble codes have popped up, so I' m not going to stress out over it - beyond just wanting to take delivery in the originally promised 6-8 weeks, which now is starting to look doubtful.
