Exactly what kind of dealer do you have? Takes from Thursday to the following Wednesday to deliver a car? It took my dealer all of 4 hours!

I envy those of you already tracking your new cars. I just ordered mine a few weeks ago and it is still "On Order". Even my wife wanted me to call 866-ASK-MINI today to find out if there was anything new to report. She doesn't usually care much about cars.

I'm looking forward to my first MINI. It is a MCS hardtop, British Racing Green II with white sport stripes. The only goodies I splurged for were the H/K radio upgrade and 17" wheels.

Looking forward to getting to the "WHERE IS THE BOAT WITH MY CAR?" phase soon. And happy motoring to everyone here.

Ted.

Actually; I picked Edgar up today! He's safely in the garage and already has over 150 miles after only having him half a day! My MA surprised me and told me it was ready to pick up today so I took a vacation day from work and hauled *** up to the dealership!

Anyone else think they were on the Athens Highway (hard to tell, since it's not a WW ship)? I still don't know for sure, but once it docked at Charleston this morning, the OL suddenly moved me from sitting on the dock at Southampton (for the past two weeks) to en route to the VDC . . . woohoo!!!! That can't be a coincidence. Checking the Charleston port report, I noticed that the Athens Highway never reported what kind of cargo it was carrying (almost every other ship says either vehicles, containers, or passengers), but it's taking on vehicles. I'm guessing that for some reason, it never registered its load from Southampton, and that's why the OL has shown me sitting at the dock for the past two weeks. If I'm right, it should only be a few days more . . . !!!!!!

Good luck! I was about to explode if I had to wait another day for my car.

Yay, Tarbot! and talley-ho, Jeeves!!! Glad to know that someone else was guessing along with me, and it's working out. I'm envying the road trip . . . what a great way to get acquainted! I have to start teaching in a couple of weeks, so no road trips for me anytime soon. Le sigh.

Ah yes... School is starting soon! Memories... I have my 25th high school reunion this year. Heading up to Lake Winnipesaukee and then to Portsmouth NH for the ride. If Jeeves is not ready the the top comes off the Jeep and away we go.

Thanks, Andrew! I'm doing okay, combustion-wise . . . had been thinking that sometime next week would be it, so if I'm right about the Athens Highway, it'll all be on track. I'll probably call my MA tomorrow to see if his info syncs with my guesses.

I have to say: I've been enjoying every moment of this process, even the delays and obfuscations, and especially sharing them here. It's all been good.

LOL... I'm a firm believer you're as old as you feel and life is just starting! Make sure you make some time to go motoring.

Grats to all those who are getting or have gotten their cars. Mine I'm guessing will be a couple of weeks. My MA called me and left a message and said it was originally scheduled at the dealer on the 24th because of the hold up. He's hoping it will be here sooner though. After it gets here I'm still another week out for additions. More popcorn for me.

I am right there with you ordered on the 1st of August. Still on order with no production timing yet. Rumor has it the plant is closed for a few weeks will start up end of the month. My dealer expects end of September delivery.

I saw somewhere a mention that the UK production was going to be shut down for 4 weeks in August for vacation, so I wouldn't expect any movement until the end of the month.

(Countryman production in Austria is shut down for two weeks as well - those are still 2012s though.)

MollyBrown,

Welcome to the waiting room. Good to have company.

And to both you and qrysdonnell, while a bit disappointing to hear that the plant is closed, I guess they deserve a solid vacation. And I was told when I placed my order not to expect the car until mid-September.

By the way, what have you both ordered? Swapping stories here may help pass the time.

Ted.

Thanks for the welcome! I have a Pure Red Countryman S on the way. I ordered it July 26th. It started production on the 1st, but with the plant shutdown it's not going to be done until the 23rd.

I suspect I'll see it around the end of September. So just a lot of waiting, sort of gotten used to it at this point!

qrysdonnel,

That sounds like a nice one. I ordered mine on the 19th but it is still listed as "on order". I know they will be worth the wait, however.

I took an existing Bayswater order that the dealer had in the book for one of their cars and customized it to what I wanted. the order was placed in June, it went right into production. There have been others who have gotten their Bayswater as well. Over this entire process the dealer knew almost nothing about what was happening, This list with the combined information from everyone here can help you figure out the real truth

We're still waiting together, Grey! All I know is that the Tiger unloaded all cargo at the VPC in Baltimore on Thursday. Haven't heard a firm target date from my MA yet, but with my travel schedule for work I'm mentally preparing for a 25th pickup -- that should give them plenty of time.

As an aside for those coming through Baltimore, I don't think I've ever seen mentioned on here that the VPC there is actually owned/operated by Mercedes!! There was an agreement signed with BMW a few years back to process their cars. Here's hoping that the Mercedes employees don't have some special way of 'initiating' our BMW/MINI cars!

Ordered my 2013 Clubman (BRG/Silver w/Silver stripes) August 3rd and am eagerly awaiting for the online info to update. According to the tracking thread, I was 'lucky' enough to override a prior slot from my dealer so all I see is that someone's 2008 MCS is ready for pickup

I can't wait to get into my new MINI, my fiance' is already tired of hearing me sigh when I see another MINI on the road!

The truck carrying my clubman is expected to make it to the dealership today :D

They'll have to install the JCW Tuning kit, then she should be ready!
