KilmerPT - great news! It looks like mine might make it to the dealer on Monday or Tuesday. Lots of celebrating next week!

batdevice - can't your MA escalate your build? Mine was originally postponed but when my MA called they put it back on the schedule for the following week. The build will happen - but two months to start seems a bit long. What does your MA say?

And I thought my 23-day wait from order to start of production was long.. I still don't understand the long delay and doubt we will ever truly know.. Everything else seems to have gone smooth though after that. I hope yours will be the same or better.

You are the epitome of a MINI enthusiast. Number six? I suppose the whole order/build process is old hat to you. But I bet you're just as excited as us newbies when your latest one arrives. Congrats on your order!

Ok, getting excited now. There is my boat (Elektra) passing through the Panama Canal. 4 more days to Port Hueneme, week at the VCD Center? The next part I am guessing. 1-2 days to truck my car to Long Beach. Another day to load Mini on another ship (Matson is my guess). 4 day Hawaiian cruise to Oahu.

How Long does it take the dealers to prep a car?

Here's some pics my MA sent me today of my JCW. Even with the protective wrapping it looks awesome to me. Now I can't wait for delivery! lol

I think it just depends on the dealer IMO. Try asking your MA.

Worth it though, you have to either let them get really dirty or get really close to the silver bits to see any break dust on em.

Yeah, aside from it being cool looking, I read how the black wheels make the brake dust harder to see. My current webspoke wheels on my MCS look very dirty so fast after a wash lol

Is your MINI a JCW also? It's possible they might be limiting them to that model only. If it is a JCW and they still told you that, then I don't know why.

+1 on not showing much brake dust, at least with stock MINI pads that tend to have more dust the aftermarket.

Type wheel seem to show the least amount of dust and hide dirt pretty well also, in my opinion.

Wheel wax helps on the stock silver or painted wheels.

Congrats on the new MINI and the Bullet wheels look nice on the PW JCW R56.

Alfie is home!!!

Can you see me? I'm jumping up and down like a crazy woman! We picked up Alfie yesterday late afternoon and I've been swooning ever since. What a ride. The response is tremendous, shifting is smooth, cornering is to die for (okay, almost on two wheels!) and the sound is awesome! We put on about 125 miles this morning and smiled the entire time. The only additions we've made to it are cocomats (yes, I coordinated with the JCWs red stitching); CF stubby antenna and a pro-clip mount for the cell phone. Can't wait to find some places to drive tomorrow. Here are a couple of shots from the Jersey shore!

I sent my post a little too quickly - I meant to say:

Kilmer - beautiful ride and yes, the wheels are fantastic. Nice two tone look to them. They'll pop in the sunlight. Are you still picking up your car tomorrow? Take the long way home once you pick it up!

Wrecks - your time at the VDC will depend on how your MINI arrived from the ship (if there's any issues they fix it there) and what dealer add-ons you ordered. I only ordered the sport stripes and mud flaps. My car arrived at the VDC Tuesday night; they completed the install by Friday morning and then it had to be transported to my dealer (arrived Monday). So don't panic if it takes a week from getting to port. Seems pretty standard. Enjoy it when it finally arrives!

I hope your delivery goes as well as mine did. My MA was fabulous, the car was perfect, he gave me a ditty bag with goodies in it, threw in the rubber boot mat for free and told me we're entitled to free weekly car washes at their brushless facility for life. He also introduced me to the SA/parts mgr who was nice enough to sell us a case of oil and a gallon of coolant at cost. Although we plan on having them do the scheduled and in-between oil changes (their price is very good) we wanted to have a supply on hand . . . just in case. All-in-all, a great experience.
