in the limbo that is "Awaiting Transport"

ordered: 17Aug
built: week of 11Sep
awaiting transport: as week of 21Sep

2013 - JCW Lighting Blue Metallic Hardtop, Black Roof & Mirrors, HK system, panoramic sunroof, driving lights, JCW suspension. Also adding rubber floor mats, tint and the 3M protection.

currently flirting with being past due for inspection on my 2004 VW Jetta which needs: all for rotors\pads, tires, new water pump, new catalytic converter and the clutch is gonna fail soon (although I'm proud to say it is the ORIGINALLY installed clutch).

The VW has 198K+mi so the repairs weren't worth prolonging the inevitable esp. with having to commute 100+mi daily for work.

the anticipation is terrible...hoping it doesn't have to last much longer.

When the Hyde Park came out I knew that was the one. While I liked the MA in Kansas City, buying in OKC will save us big time. When I built and got loan approval on line I just had it sent to the dealership. I guess she claimed me as her customer and will get the sale after all. That is if Molly comes in soon. I may just give up go to KC and buy one off the lot if I don't here something soon.
When you ordered Molly, you didn't have to put up a deposit?

I just emailed my dealer this morning to see if they can give me some information.
Just heard back from my MA, confirmed on Owners Lounge, that my MINI is now scheduled for production. He estimates production completion within 5 days and ultimate arrival here by end of October. So I am still looking at 8 weeks total. Wooohooo!

I feel better now and hope everybody gets similarly good news today!

2013 MCCS 6 Spd BRGII/B - Winston
ordered: 8/28, to production: 9/27,

MINI production plant

Not sure if this has been post before or not but my MA sent this link to view the making of the MINI's. It's 45 minutes long but it really interesting to see it all in motion.

Just an update for those who have been taking notes: my Mini has been on the Tonsberg since September 19th, due to arrive in Baltimore tomorrow. I have been checking 866-ASK-MINI and the OL every day just out of perverse fascination to see when those trackers actually catch up. Today is the first day the OL site finally transitioned from "awaiting transport" to "en route" and simultaneously 866-ASK-MINI switched to "your vehicle is in transit, please contact your dealer for additional tracking info..."

So fret not if you have reason to believe that your vehicle is on a boat, but the tracking services have not caught up. They were 8 days behind in my case.

Had my current MINI in for an oil change today so got to talk to my MA directly. He showed me the web page for his "Produced but not shipped" orders, he had a lot waiting but mine is the oldest.

He said that when the load the cars on the ship, there are BMWs too so they don't know for sure how many of each they can get on. Mine probably just didn't fit but he is confident it is first in line for the next boat.

So we'll see on Saturday.....

Just curious -- are you keeping the '05 convertible and adding the '13 hard top, or replacing the convertible with a hard top? If the latter, why did you decide no convertible this time?

If your MINI is on the K-Line for transport at what point do you find out that yours has boarded and sailed? Is that something only your MA can tell you?

Replacing it, found out that I wasn't really a convertible guy. For one thing its 110+ for 3.5 months of the year and can't put the top down and the rest of the time I seldom used it. So I thought I would save the extra $ and get the hard top.

ASK-MINI was able to tell me I was on a ship a couple days after it set sail. The OL was about a day behind that. My MA gave me the ship's name and ETA at the VDC.

My MA left me voicemail saying my car, which completed production 21 September, is on a ship. I sure can't find it using the WW website and I assume they're the only line docking in NJ. My MA is off today so I can't ask hime which ship. Are Wallenius' records slow as well? I don't want my car getting here too soon simply because I still have to get my final payoff on my trade-in and then get my credit union to cut a check for the exact right amount.

Weird Ask Mini Update??

MA said we were scheduled for arrival in Brunswick on Sept. 26th, I assumed I was on Athens Highway. I started calling Ask Mini Wednesday afternoon, no change. I called this morning and mini robot changed from "in transit" to "at port awaiting a shipping vessel", what gives?? No change on OL yet, figured that.

Great. I kind of feel the same way, though I wrestled with it a bit when I designed my hard top. I don't really like the car's lines in a convertible, but I wondered if I would regret not going that route, since I've never owned a convertible. But I could really only use a convertible a few months out of the year here as well and I would be unhappy with the vehicle's appearance whenever the top wasn't down, so I just decided to go hard top.

I probably will only use my convertible about 1/4 of the year. Really hot summers and potentially wet winters. BUT when it's nice here it is exceptionally gorgeous. I've wanted a convertible for 30 years and DH told me to go for it! My next car will probably have to make sense so I figured why not? Here's praying I don't regret it. My 12 y/o DD is 5'7" and growing. She's not going to love the backseat.

As of yesterday afternoon, my car was at the VDC according to my substitute MA. ( I adopted another MA as my original one has proven nearly useless. I will be asking their sales manager to allow them to split the commission.) The OL now shows that status too! Funny thing is that ASK-MINI has reversed: My car was "in transit, contact your dealer for additional tracking information" until yesterday. Now it says that it is at the port awaiting shipping--the same thing it said before it went on the boat. I wish everything would get all coordinated. All that is to say it's so hard to know exactly what is happening with your car without a good MA.
