The very first thing my MA told me was that he could change things right up until it went into production, but after that point they wouldn't be able to. Here's that Nat Geo link--any changes once it's in the line gums up the works.

Mine was a $500 refundable deposit...

My production date was 9-21-12. The Mini Owner's lounge status switched to transport status today, so I think mine is on the California Highway since Miami Dealers receive their cars in Brunswick.

At Dealer!!!!

Our Mini arrived at the VDC in Brunswick, GA on Sept. 26th off the Athens Highway and on morning of Oct. 2nd arrived at our dealer in Baton Rouge, LA. Waiting for it to be pdi'd as my MA put it and we are hopefully going pick it up on Oct. 9th. The pickup date is just because of our work schedules.

Wow, my non refundable deposit was $1,500 which wasn't a problem because we knew that's the car we wanted. After reading some of the post I was wondering if $750 off MSRP plus the $750 incentive they are offering now, is that a good price? Plus, can anyone give me an idea of how the MINI Select works?

As I understand it Mini Select is a program that allows you to have a lower monthly payment but at some point a balloon payment is due.

ER,
The Carmen's route to New York then Baltimore is normal based on her past shipping history. Was surprised that she didn't stop in Jersey as her major offload for the North and Mid Atlantic delivery areas.

I had to do the mini select option. I needed a car after mine was totaled, and I still have three semesters left of school. Leasing was not an option because I drive 18k+ miles per year, at least when I'm in school. Financing was too much money. I did a 60 month select plan. I ordered a non S with premium and cold weather packages, bonnet stripes, and a roof rack. Monthly payments came out to $260 with $9,900 (or close to that) do at the end of the 60 months. That buy out figure has the option of being financed, or I can just give it to the dealer along with the title. The difference between a lease and the MINI select program is that I actually have the title, not the dealership. I figure if worst comes to worst, I have a car that will be worth (hopefully) more than that $9,900 figure. I'll just finance that, sell the car, and use the difference as a down payment on something new.

Hey er, thank you so much for providing that video link. I just pulled it up on my iPhone and sent it to my tv with Apple TV and watched the entire segment.
Now I'm excited to get my new JCW in a couple weeks!
Thanks,
Greg

The port they call NY is actually in Jersey City and some boats stop off in Elizabeth (the next town over) at a different VDC before moving on as well.

Looking at the K-Line schedule, they have appeared to change California Highway's arrival into Brunswick to October 9th instead of the 8th.

Stuff like that is why my MA scolded me for tracking my Mini on my own. If I go by what he's telling me I'll have my baby eventually and the sooner it gets here the happier I'll be. My **** compulsion to track it is creating some unnecessary stress for myself.

But the point I was (hopefully clearly) making remains the same whatever your required initial payment. Was just trying to helpfully explain a question someone asked.

My pleasure! I think somebody posted that on the Facebook Coupe Owners group. They're actually a lot of fun in there.

Point was made. I was just a little surprised by the amount of variabilty in the required deposits...and their willingness to give them back!

It probably has a lot to do with what model, how well it moves in that area and how the dealership is managing/running their books that affects the deposit amounts and if they are refundable or not.

Oh no, say it isn't so.... My MA originally told me it would dock on the 12th. I'll take the 9th but the 8th would have been nicer...
