Bought a 2006 R52, black with white stripes on the bonnet. Does the fact that the stripes are decals vs. paint make them after market? They look great - just curious if Mini ships with decals or if they do painted stripes only.

Could well be OEM stripes. Although most OEM stripes for that model year had pinstripes on the edges.

If you order a MINI with stripes, they are normally a dealer-installed accessory.

factory stripes were always stickers

not painted

UNLESS a dealer did something, and THEN the painted stripe would be above the clear coat......

 

Pictures, man, pictures, gotta see this motor, so proudly post some pictures. With concientious care and maintenance you've gotten yourself a cast iron bullet proof motor. Congrats!

The stipes may or may not be OEM. They are easily replaced if they get to looking raggedy. I'm on my second set, stuck 'em on myself.
