Nube from Ohio

I'm a MINI/BMW mechanic located in Columbus OH, I don't own a MINI yet but I do service around 15 per week. I signed up in hopes of giving/taking some technical knowledge.

Cheers,

Anson

Interesting perspective. From your point of view, do you recommend these cars? What do you recommend doing / not doing to them?

I recommend them to people who are willing to pay a little extra for a great driving experience, I occasionally have customers who just wanted an econo-box and are unhappy with the extra service minis typically require.

Reduced mileage oil services are the biggest thing I push, 5,000 mile changes on the supercharged/turbo cars and 7,500 on the N/A models.

Have you been cleaning many cars for carbon buildup?

I've done one turbo replacement as a result of plugged lines and two timing chains as a result of filthy/low oil.
I've cleaned carbon sludge out of a few vanos solenoids on R56 cars but that's it.
