Volvo guy here, Soon to be MCS checkmate owner

Hey all,

I'm Corey, I live just north of Philadelphia. I've had my 1998 Volvo S70 T5 for almost 7 years now. 67,000 miles since I've had her, and I love the car to death still. But it's time for something new. I was originally looking for a Kia Forte Koup SX (laugh it up....) lol. But then i started looking into the MINI's. I know I wanted 2 doors and Manual transmission. And I came round to realizing that these cars are in my budget. So I started looking into these cars, and came across a 2006 MINI Cooper S Checkmate Edition. I am putting a deposit on it this weekend and picking it up the next weekend. very excited to start a new project for the next few years. Here's my Volvo:

Your Volvo's interior looks almost exactly like the interior from my '94 850 turbo wagon. I miss that car..

The interior came from a 1995 850 T-5R, with the Special Alcantara and leather interior. i customized the interior and it was a show stopper at most shows.

I had a 1995 850 Turbo Wagon too. Miss her too.... I also had a 1990 740 Turbo Intercooler as well as a 2001 Audi A6 2.7T Biturbo. Out of all of them, I am going to miss the S70 the most.

I'm hoping I will bring as much success to the Checkmate as i have to the T5.

Oh man... I'm about to mount those flame spoke wheels on an 05 Cooper I recently bought. Thought I would be the only NAMmer with those second generation wheels on a first Gen MINI. Glad to know they look good though.

We have the checkmate package on one of our Coopers. Assuming yours has the same color dash and two-tone seats as ours (MINI called it space blue), it will match up nicely with your exterior paint. Have any interior pics?

Thanks! Yep... nice match with your paint color! Very sharp!

And I just researched it and learned those flame spoke wheels were iriginally developed for first Gen MINIs with the checkmate package and then carried over to be an optional wheel on second generation MINIs.
