First fill up

First fill up
I got my Countryman last week and took the opportunity to drive whenever I got the chance. Not surprisingly, it didn't take too long to burn through my first tank of gas. I didn't refill when it was quite empty, I was three dots away from the pump icon. When the pump clicked off, the meter read 9.9 gallons and at $3.58/gal that worked out to a bit over 35 bucks. When I run it down to my "usual" level, I expect to get by for under $40/tank.
After owning a VW that took at least $50 to fill up, this is just another reason to dig my MINI.

cost of a fillup is a rather meaningless statistic ....
a car that gets 50 mpg and has a 20 gal tank would cost double to fill over a car that gets 25 mpg and has a 10 gallon tank, yet the car with the 20 gallon tank would cost half as much to drive (ignoring other costs) .....
figures lie and liars figure ... and 67.2% of statistics are made up on the spot

Actually, it's up to 86.7% these days due to it being election season.
As for your other point, it looks like I'll get the same number of miles from a tank in my CMS that I did in my VW so we are comparing apples to apples.
