Took the plunge and bought a Mini for the wife

Just bought an 03 r53 for my wife. I have owned BMWs since the '80's and wanted to get her another BMW but she has been telling me how she really liked the Minis. So when I called a fellow BMW nut that had fallen in love with the Minis a few years ago for advice: he told me about the one his son had for sale here on the board. Buying from someone I know made the deal much easier. Now I have my old Alpina BMWs, a Land Rover (from the BMW days) and the Mini so atleast everything is somewhat in the family.

So, Sunday morning I took a train from Atlanta to MS and picked up the Mini. I visited for a short time and then headed back home. First time I had driven a Mini and I was very surprised and really enjoyed the ride: most important thing is the wife is now happy.

I have not taken any pics yet but here are a few from the PO:

Congratulations! As a grinning R53 owner, I have gotten into the habit of checking the engine oil, coolant, power steering and brake fluid levels frequently. On a newly purchased R53, I would recommend changing out all fluids if no records exist. Second I have a great independent Mini repair shop close by that provides service if needed and third, IMHO, NAM is the best source for information that will make your MINI ownership enjoyable. Good luck.
