Thinking about pulling the trigger on a MINI

Just sold my BMW 325i this past week.... had 120k miles on her. Great car.

I've always had my eye on MINI's since I've heard they are really fun to drive, so I went into my BMW/MINI dealer on Friday and they gave me a hardtop S to drive for the weekend, I return it this evening.... IT'S BEEN A FREAKING BLAST.

I am about 85% to pulling the trigger (will be 2012 brand new most likely... maybe a 2013 depending on how much they'll come down off MSRP).

Today when I return the MCS I'm going to take a Countryman S out for a quick spin as well to see how it feels. I do like the whole 4-door idea... anybody else in the same predicament and went with one or the other for any certain reasons?

Awesome isnt it?

Before I ordered my Mini I did my due diligence and research on several Mini forums for a few weeks.
Once I pulled the trigger I was on this forum everyday for 6 long weeks waiting for delivery.
Well I've had my Mini for about 6 weeks now and am throughly enjoying it and much to my surprise I still find myself following the forums.

Thanks guys! Been a blast so far. They had it on the lot less than 24 hours when I saw it. I was all set on a red one. Saw this then fell into love.

Ill get some pics up today for you all.

Yeah I've been creeping around here awhile, finally made an account, then the big purchase haha.

While I'm thinking about it, I won't be waiting the full service time on oil changes, so anybody know a good place to pick up a service manual? I had the Bentley manual for my 3-series.

Haha, I was in the same boat, was all set on Chili Red, then I saw Lightning Blue and knew I had to have it!

Yeah, this White Silver Metallic is like magical. White in low light, Silver Metallic in high light. Looks sweet. I walked the lot, picked red, was all set to buy. Went in the next day and they JUST took delivery of this white silver metallic.. had 4 miles on it and still wrapped up. So I nabbed her up. 2013.

VERY NICE!

Wow, your dealer let you take the car home for the weekend? That's pretty sweet.

I live in Ohio (about 20 minutes north of Cincinnati). It's nasty out today... was spitting snow yesterday. Nothing stuck.

Oh yeah, anytime I test drive anything with them. They gave me the Hardtop S for 3 days to drive and the Countryman S ALL4 to drive for 2 days. They are a great dealer, so far no complaints. They have honored anything they've told me that wasn't in writing as well, which I like. And they give me about 3 days to check things over when I buy from them, and if I notice anything in those first 3 days (scratches, dents, chips, whatever) they fix them for me without hassle or questions.

Congrats and nice MCS! And about the Bentley manual, check around on eBay or Mini vendors like outmotoring.com or waymotorworks.com. Be careful checking out the vendor sites though, since your Mini may end up with a few more mods than intended.

I picked up a 2007 - 2011 Bentley Mini Cooper Service Manual for around $88. from Amazon, along with the "New Mini Performance Handbook" (recommended) and a Haynes Manual (not recommended).

Well that's good to know. So they run basically what my BMW Bentley manual ran then. Guess it's time to pick one up.

I suppose I have some time until I need one... 49,900 miles to be exact haha

A word of caution: if you plan on doing some involved work using the Bentley manual, check the forums for a how to procedure. The manual is a great outline for simple maintenance procedures, but it may gloss over some pretty important details when it comes to more complicated repairs.

Yep, that's how it was with my 3-series as well.

Love the color combo, very, very sharp. I picked up a preowned MCS in October and have caught the modifying bug. The cars are such a blast to drive, talk about and customize.

Have fun!

Congratulations! Nice to know that a 3-series owner can appreciate a MINI for what it is. Enjoy!
