I did it finally !!!!

I did it. After 8 years of wanting an MCS I bought a 2010 mini certified preowned horizon blue one today and pick it up on Monday !!!!

I'm so excited its not funny. And I have this forum to thank. It's been such a HUGE help !!

But I do have two questions and am praying there is a fix for the first one !

The only thing that was a downfall was that it doesn't have the USB port for my iPhone. Does anyone know if there is a way for me to play my music through the stereo?

Second one is should I get the extended maintenance warranty?

Thanks !!!

Congratulations and welcome! I understand the people have had good luck with the GTA Car Kit iPod interface. Do a search on the forums for iPod and I'm sure you will find a solution.

Best of luck!

Does it have a AUX in port? If so... a cable works. Been doing it for years.

Welcome.

To answer your 2nd question, I think the general consensus here regarding the extended maintenance is "no". I believe it's very limited in the scope of work that is covered.

Congrats and welcome!

I thought that even if you don't have the USB there was still an aux jack where you could just plug a 3.5 mm cable in to play music. I could be wrong here but a search should yield some answers.

On the maintenance warranty, there are actually two options. Here is an extended maintenance plan and an extended warranty. The maintenance plan will last 6 years or 60K miles and deals with maintenance and wear items. The warranty is for part defects/breaks that will last you to 100K miles and I believe 6 yrs. your dealer may try and sell them together. Each seems to run in the $2K range.

Thanks everyone !!

I totally have to update my signature -- and yes - it does have an aux port....the salesman told me i could play my music but not be able to change tracks or anything like that -- is that correct?

and so there is a cable I can get for this? then I will be happy !!!

Since it is a Mini Next certified, it already came with the extended warranty .... I was just wondering if i should extend the maintenance warranty as I understand that covers the oil changes and brakes and tune ups and everything.

In my search here it seems like its split on the maintenance....i just wonder if its good to have since this is a pre-loved car....

also - i have to find those cool cartoon mini's you all have in your sig....
this is totally awesome !

If you only have an aux port then yes, you can't change tracks through the car's system, you have to use the iPod or MP3 player to do so, no big deal really.

And welcome from another garden stater!
