First Time Mini Cooper S 2007 Model
Hey everyone, this is my first Mini Cooper S or any Mini Cooper for that matter. I'm about ready to purchase it used at CarMax Irvine and it only has 44K miles, is there anything I should be concerned with regarding the 2007 models?
Perhaps I should ask in the appropriate thread.
Regards, Systemlord.

There are lengthy discussions of this issue.
Off the top of my head IMHO:
Take the key fob to a dealer to have them read the service history. Make sure it is up to date on service and recalls.
Have someone check the timing chain slack. See if you have the correct tensioner installed and see how much more stretch you have before needing a new timing chain/guide. This repair is eventually needed in many "S".
Have them check for water pump/thermostat leakage.
Have them check for turbo oil line leakage.
Drive it hard around corners and over some bumps to check for suspension "clunks". (usually easy bushing or linkage replacement, but you'll want it fixed)
I love my '07 and have had few problems with it, but others will tell you to stay away from the first year of a model change. Remember, these are not bullet proof Hondas. They require maintenance (especially oil) and upkeep, but the driving smiles are worth it to most of us.
Good luck.
