Hello, guys i just join up and this site is awesome. Maybe someone so kind enough can help me with my 02 mini cooper problem. My mini have 2 main problems, one of problem is 4th cylinder is miss fired and no compression and the other problem is CVT transmission doesn't move when i put drive. I have to drive back ward about 20 feet and car move forward. So my mechanic told me tread in or get another one, but i want to keep my red mini long as i can. So please some one help me out or tell me any recommendation for my car.

 

Junk it or do a tranny+motor swap...
Tranny/cvt is a $5000....issue....motor, maybe $2000.....and the installs....you have a body.....thats all!!!!
Short of findind a totaled car with a good drivetrain to swap, the car is gone....even then, the result might be worth less than the cost of the transplant.....02 mini's sell at a pretty steep discount due to many "unique" issues to the 2002....
..think it is time to say bye-bye.

Unless you are looking for a DIY project, the car is going to cost you more than it will be worth marketwise. But if you're really attached to it for whatever reason, find a kind mechanic that will use it for a filler project to keep his guys busy between jobs and hope for the best. From the sounds of it, the tranny is shot and the motor needs a complete overhaul. What you find after that is anyone's guess. If it were me, I'd find another Mini to love, Will
