New to Mini, from VW to BMW

Hey all, I just picked up a 2003 mini s from a private sale. 140k miles and the price seemed alright. It is in decent condition with minimal rust and no issues so far.

The story: I have been a huge VW fan for years. Driving, working on, and just plain tinkering with anything from the 70's and 80's. Recently I was in the market for a newer car with some pep and gives me a smile through the turns.

I couldn't find anything in my price range(sub 7k). At least not in the newer gti's. Saw a mini on Craigslist, found it was an S, and hopped on it...

Anywho I am looking to network with this community and learn the world all you miniacs are so crazy about.

Thanks,

Tyler

I pick it up Saturday and am eager to make it my own . I'm a bit sketchy on such high mileage being as my 87 Scirocco has less mileage and my 82 Scirocco had only a few thousand more.

Similar track here. VW Golf GT, Passat Wagon, Eurovan, 325i, now S Clubman. Never considered a Mini before because I've got three kids. But they are all teenagers now and we've got a bigger family car. Got the Mini two days ago. My 16-year old son said, "This car is better than the BMW in every way." And he said that while riding in the back seat.
