Mini Maestro intro

So after waiting for years, and lurking on this site for almost a year learning everything I could, I have finally made a dream a reality and purchased my first MINI Clubman S. The previous owner was Tata Steva and it was called PepperNSalt. I will be renaming the car and putting my own spin on it but she is a beaut in every way. Had a blast showing her off today and waving to MINIs like a MINIac. Unfortunately no one waved back but that's ok, we'll turn that around!

Thanks for being an amazing community of resources to help others out. I'm sure there are a lot of me out there and so if you read this: be patient and find the right car for you, and when it does pounce on it and never look back!

Thank you and I look forward to many MINI meets in the future and hopefully we cross paths.

Adam aka. Mini Maestro

Welcome to NAM, MiniMaestro and congrats on your new MINI Clubman. We'd love to hear about all the detail of your MINI but more importantly, we'd love to see a few pic. We love pics here at NAM, which you will soon discover. I'd encourage you to wave at your fellow MINI brothers and sisters, but it seems you already are doing so. Happy motoring.

When you said MINI Maestro, I thought of one of Rover/Leyland/Austin's previous efforts, the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_Maestro, which was one up from the MINi Metro.

If I'm remembering right, the MINI Metro was supposed to be the replacement for the original Mini, like the MINI became. It never replaced it, it was sold along side the Mini. But when they were developing it, they had a vote over what the name of the new machine should be. Metro won out over Maestro, so there was very nearly a car called the Mini Maestro (but never was).

Ha! That's amazing. I took my user name from the fact I'm not a big guy and love MINIs and I'm a music teacher/choir conductor so it worked. I think I'll use your story instead!
Thanks for sharing!

Like this:

This one is, of course, the MG Maestro. It was also available with a boot (trunk) which was badged the MG Montego.

The Maestro was a contemporary of the Dodge Omni, but appealed to a slightly older and more staid buyer (yes, really!), so each time I see Mini Maestro on the screen, I assume there is a discussion about smoking pipes or maybe best brand of mobility scooter....

This is the regular Austin Maestro, not the young tearaway's (ie, under 60s) MG version.

And, scarily, Wikipedia says the Maestro commercial van is still in production in China where Yema Auto have restyled it as a SUV:

The Montego wasn't really a booted Maestro, it was longer, the next model up. Though it was pretty much the same at the front.
