Not yet new to MINI, but looking forward to when I am
Hi all,
I sure wish I could show you a picture of my new MINI, but I don't have it yet, and won't for about a year. My wife just got a new car, so mine has to wait until about this time next year.
I signed up so that I could do research on the MINI to make sure that when I purchase one, I get exactly what I need. I'm researching the MINI because I've heard that it's a blast to drive - "like a street legal go-kart". I am a function over form guy. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles. When I buy, I want to focus on options that make the MINI more fun to drive and would cost a bundle to retrofit. I also like to get the most bang for my buck and am willing to spend some of my time to save money.
I've worked on cars all my life, even built my own VW dune buggy where I removed the body, chopped 16 inches out of the middle of the chassis and welded it back together to fit the fiberglass body I bought from a friend. I also rebuilt the engine from the ground up. Talk about a "street legal go-kart"! I'm hoping the MINI will give me a similar driving experience.
However, I don't have the time these days to spend doing stuff like that, so I tend to keep my work on cars to something I can finish in a weekend to a week, so I also look for performance mods I can do myself in that kind of time-frame.
So, that's what I'm looking for in the next year; what options are a must-get for a "driver's" MINI, and what mods I can do as much as possible myself to increase the driving experience.
Oh, almost forgot - the Clubman S is the model I'm interested in.
Thanks.
