Hello from New Mexico
My wife has a 2010 mini that she purchased from her mother. Runs Great! My wife loves the mini.
One quick question to start is, the battery has come to the end of its life and now needs replacing. Should we take the mini to the dealer or if I replace the battery myself, will the battery "sync" up to the car automatically. I'm hearing this is important. Thx, Jim

I replaced the battery in my 2004 R53 and it did not require any sync. I also did my own in my Mercedes Sprinter even though people were insisting that they had to be synced. If you think about it, we disconnect our battery cables all of the time and do not have to re sync them. That is a complete loss of power just like a new battery would be while exchanging it.
Where in New Mexico are you? I lived in several different places there.

I've yet to see a definitive answer to this. Some people have swapped batteries just fine, but others have said they had to get the new battery coded to the car by the dealer. No idea what is truly the case.
Most people in this thread seem to indicate that there is no need for programming: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ment-help.html
The battery is kind of a pain to get to and requires removing the passenger wiper arm and apron over the battery. It's not too bad, but MINI certainly didn't make it as easy as other cars. If you need a wiper arm removal tool, I have one you can borrow. I'm near the Uptown shopping center.
