Goodbye VW Cabrio, Hello Mini
My wife's beloved '96 VW Cabrio has finally reached it's end. 108k miles and the oil cooler o-ring failed. It's fixable and the car would certainly continue being a 'daily driver' but the fun is gone.
Now she's in a new '14 Cooper S convertible, pepper white with just about all the options save for heated mirrors and the reverse sensors. Someone else ordered it up all tricked out but returned it at 395 miles. So it's 'used' but just barely and that made for a pretty decent savings off the price. But it was even better being able to get it with almost everything she wanted (and a ton of other stuff added), in just one day. We'd have ordered and waited, but being able to 'impulse buy' one in a single day only adds to the fun!

Thanks to our gloriously random weather patterns here near DC, I spent an hour and a half replacing the blown oil cooler O-ring on the Cabrio. I like to say "we get all four seasons here, sometimes all in the same week!"
It's a bit sad working on the old girl, the slow crank of the battery seemed to express a kind of weariness. Either that or the fcker is releasing some last-ditch pent up hostility since it knows it's days are numbered...

Welcome and congrats on the new Mini! That was nice of the original owner to eat that initial huge depreciation. I'm sure you got a good deal for a low mileage car.
If you're into you-ifying your Mini NAM is the place to be. Just a matter of how much you want to put in it. I have a wish-list waiting for the day she's paid off.

There's not terribly much we'd do to it. It didn't come with the rear backup (parking distance) sensors, nor a bike rack. Those are two things that'd be nice to add. I plan on getting some aspherical mirrors. One of the auto-top mods might be interesting, as this one doesn't have the comfort access option.
The bike rack's going to be necessary come Spring. Don't know which rack yet. But the winner will be the one that's least difficult for my wife to attach. I'd like to get it installed within the next month or so to avoid losing use of the car during better weather.
