Glad to be a new member to the community. I hope to fit in and help where I can and meet some cool mini owners. I just bought an 02' r53 that needed some work. It now rides quite well thanks to Detroit Tuned who has performed all the work on my car. I'm upgrading from an 03' r50 which had quite a few issues.
I believe I'll have a mini from here on out. Again glad to join.

Ron

Hi,
Congrats on the purchase.

I know you're going from a Justa to an S but what made you go back to an older model?

Thanks for the reply. First to me the base is justa bit slower is all lol. I wanted a faster car and wanted to stay in the first gen for two reasons. One being the supercharger as opposed to the turbo on gen 2 models. And most important money. This car was just what I needed. Not too expensive and just cosmetic and suspension issues. Mileage was only 67000 miles which was a bonus. Still needs some oem suspension parts to get it back to spec but it's a project and I dig projects. I've made it faster with a DDM works cai and 15% pulley and plan on a new exhaust soon. I'd say my base was just as fun to drive, well almost.

I see what you mean going from a base to an S, but going from a 13 year old car to a 14 year old car seems strange. Sorry.

I've had my 2006 automatic for just over a year now after trading in a nice, dependable Daihatsu Sirion. Even with too many issues ($$), I don't regret it for a second. The car is just too much fun. I still look for any little excuse to go for a drive.

I'm already planning on my next Mini - Hopefully a 2008/09 manual S.

Thanks Mr. T I'll post pics real soon. And I'm working on my best friend to get a Mini and trade his Subaru WRX. I have two friends one with a 2014 paceman automatic and my other buddy has a 2013 works gp and we all were driving together this past weekend. My friend with the WRX wasn't getting any Mini love from a crowded Ann Arbor downtown so our first stop was the mini dealer there in town to let him find one he likes.

Rhpox2003 if you knew me that would be one of the least strange things you could say I've done. That's a real good discussion you need to have with my dad to totally appreciate your findings lmbo. He's seen it all. What I truly wanted was a 2005 S, but when I was looking, this 02 was best suited for me. The newer gen 1 models I saw were much more than I was going to spend and way more miles. It is strange I know, but I love my new one year older 02 mini. I guess someone would say I'm just as strange or stranger for going from an 06 Audi a6 4.2l auto to an 03 mini. Love at first sight I guess. Funny thing is almost every time I go to the mini dealer there's an Audi on the lot for sale.

Thanks for the pics. What can I say, I have a soft spot for silver. You MINI looks fantastic. Can't wait to see how you personalize it.

Thanks Mr. t. I've actually started personalizing my ride. I went the plasti dip route for my rims. I also painted the lower front grille to match the aero grille I replaced. My brake calipers I had painted red. I'm going to black out all the chrome slowly as I think black and silver look so good together.

I've put a lot into the car as well as it came with some issues. Here are a few things I've had done. Strut mounts, front inner ball joint, steering spindle, Detroit tuned bypass valve, rear brake pads, all fluids changed, and both rear rims were totally damaged and replaced. I did a couple mods as well like 15% SC pulley and a DDM Works cai. It's still a work in progress as there are still a few suspension issues but it rides so much better now then it did when bought 2 months ago.

Looks good! And now I see why you're buying my spoiler! I guess the PO didn't like the spoiler look, huh? Seems odd to see a MCS without one. Are you going to paint the spoiler silver, or maybe black to match the wheels? Maybe get the black side scuttles from an R50 too - to go with your black-out look...

It's a hatch from a base model as it was hit while in po possession. It must have been just the hatch as there is still original paint on everything except the hatch. Yeah I did the headlight rings and side scuttles today as well as the cooper emblem in the rear while keeping all the S's red. Looks nice. Plasti dip ftw I swear.
