My name is Tiff, and I am thrilled to say I finally belong to the Mini-owners club! Just picked up my first one today, a 2013 Cooper S. (An R56 if I'm not mistaken?)
Her name is Lucille and I am in love! That turbocharger does not mess around!
I live in NE Ohio so I'm curious to see how she survives the brutal winters here, but I am used to fwd cars and how they handle in the snow, shouldn't be too bad.
Here she is, already thinking about having some nice white bonnet stripes added.
Welcome! From what i have read they fair well in the snow, most likely due to all the weight over the driving wheels (but im sure the right tires for the right season make a world of difference). I have no time with my mini in the snow but know what snow is like up there growing up in Upstate new york!
Yeah I'm pretty sure she'll do just fine being front wheel drive. Only thing that makes me nervous is that I'm not used to driving a car that has so much "go" in it! Good thing I have a few months to get used to it before the snow hits the fan.
Her name is Lucille, named after my mom's nickname since she helped me get her for a good deal from the dealership.
BTW it is an R56 and if you look up any engine info know you have the N18 engine (vs the N14 which is a good thing!) I always liked the classic bonnet stripes!
Snow hits the fan! hahahaha had me laughing at that i still tremble when i hear the term lake effect...even tho i live far away from any of the now!
The power delivery is rather smooth for a turbo in my opinion but in a good way linear power bands are why more predictable so should be fairly easy in the snow from my time dealing with it!
Anyways again welcome lots of good information on this forum and always ask away if you cant find your answers a lot of helpful people and some of the best vendors on forums i have found (as in they help not sell when they post!)
I have and it's a ton of fun!! Definitely not for start and stop city traffic, but i do a lot of petsitting out in the country and sport mode sure is fun on those curvy back roads!!
Congratulations and welcome to NAM! If you're looking for some stripes, check out Might Stripes here. Some great product. We used their stripes on our MINI. If you have any questions or need any help with your new-to-you MINI, don't hesitate to ask!
