Hi, my name is Austun, and I'm a mini owner...

Lol actually this is my first mini.

I am the new owner of a 2009 mini cooper clubman s.
This isn't my first car, I'm 27, and I have had 43 different projects, dailys, and track cars. In my history I have learned that joining a good forum helps with the process of... well, anything.

Some of the more notable toys: an ae86, an 83 vw scirroco, 82 280zx, 95 240, 92 cressida, 67 mustang, 82 fiat 128 spyder, and a 2000 something sentra ser spec v.
I'm tired of buying crap so I'm hoping this'll be the end

Welcome to NAM, Austun! Congratulations on your purchase! AE86, very nice! Big fan. I've been able to see an exact replica of the Initial D one in person several times before. If you ever need anything for your MINI definitely let me know and looking forward to those pictures.

Been doing some research on here for some quick minimalist upgrades. Main goal is just to murder my friends sonic rs turbo. It's to close a run... the more I drive the car the more I love it. So far my parts list are sway bars, bov spring, exhaust, and maybe some brake upgrades.

Quick questions: are the ecu's as sensitive as as vw's? As in, if I do anything to upgrade performance am I going to get a check engine light? What are the main performance differences for a jcw clubman?

Thanks for the pics, Looks like a Clubman S , not JCW, does it have the Tuning kit. If you remove the Cat or anything.

I don't think they're as sensitive, but they're still not like a Japanese car. I've worked on a lot of VW/Audi's in my time and those things can be a bit touchy if you don't do the proper upgrades when modding. It seemed as if you had to always update the tune when adding on something new. You should be alright though and if you have concerns about a modification causing an issue you should just post up and ask here. There are a lot of knowledgeable individuals that can steer you in the right direction.

Looks like you've got a good list so far and if you need help putting anything together for your mods let me know.
