Purchased my first Mini today.
Hello all. Yep, another FNG here.
Purchased my first Mini today. 2004 S model. Up to 2 years ago when I started building my house I was a car guy. I needed a better MPG daily commuter and just could not bring myself to buy a souless car. When the house build was just starting my daily was a 1986 944. The #2 bearing failed so I pushed it into the corner of my shop (1800 sq ft) and started driving my F150. Needed to make almost daily stops at Lowes anyway. Well the house is almost done so I'm happy to take a step towards being a car guy again. I'll build another engine for the 944 later next year.
I've always liked the look of these cars and fell in love with this S when I drove it last week. First time I'd ever driven a Mini. I'm a big DIYer so have a lot of homework ahead of me. And the crazy part of me is looking forward to it.
Anyway sorry to bore you. Hope you have a Merry Christmas, Festivus, etc etc. Mine started off great already.
Cheers
Michael

Welcome Michael! You made a solid choice with a first gen S. There're lots of things you can do to this little car to make it quicker & handle better for a reasonable cost, especially if you have the time, facilities and abilities (which it sounds like you do).
Merry Christmas & Happy Festivus to you too, and enjoy the ride.
