New to the Community

Hello!

I am not necessarily new to the community but to mini modifying I am. A little back ground on myself: not good with grammar (sorry), grew up essentially in a body shop,/speed shop, ex military, not really a euro car guy. Ive owned numerous 240sx's including a 2jz swap s13 and an ls1 s14. I know my way around cars pretty well if i do say so myself!

Well, I've owned my 04 brg mini cooper s for over a year, replaced the clutch and ditched the dual mass flywheel, car has an exhaust me and a buddy did after a few to many brew that includes a 2 1/2 glass pack and thats about it. Through my rambling I'm youd probably think that my mini is just to slow for me... IT IS GODLY SLOW, HELP!!! i want it to be 300hp wheel. HOW??? whats the most cost effective way please enlighten me, I just paid the thing off and need more fun, car is a daily and i leave her at home when i travel for work so building bottom end is an option. Where do i buy parts where do I start? i live in florida's panhandle so who can tune the damn thing? Car has sentimental value so selling isn't an option I want to fall in love with it but i just don't know how. I do plan on baggin the mini on air lift performance 3H so thats already in the work but i just want to keep up with my friends.

P.S. also currently building a 5.3 miata slide car...

Welcome to NAM!Looks like a good collection of cars that you have owned. Would love to see some pictures of your BRG R53 when you get the chance. It'll take some work to get to that number. I've posted some good threads that you should read up on below. There are a few members on here who have bagged their R53's. Check out Spender's here. If you have any questions or ever need anything for your MINI please don't hesitate to let me know.

First off, anything over 275hp will be a challenge. I've driven a 260hp r53 many times, it was my good friends dd, you don't need more than that. Either way your talking around $3,000, if you want 300hp you will probably need a built motor from Way or rmw and it's really going to cost you then.

To make a legitimate 300 whp is an expensive proposition. Even making 250 on our Mustang Dyno is some pretty serious cash--like $6k--but once you do, it'll be a screamer. We have done this many times to good effect, with great reliability. PM me if you want more information.

Thanks every body! 300 was a ball park number i'd like to be at and honestly money really isn't an issue to be honest. Yes the bags are at my house waiting to be installed, I've talked to way at way motor works and he said the same this most of you are saying. I want to cam it an do the rwm head? I already ordered the 17% pulley. Like I stated previously I had a 669hp conservative tune 2jz s13 240sx that i started in high school. I just would like to if anybody has experience with number I already know the rods are the week point i just want to know like what intercooler is the best, opinion on OBX header? who to have tune it. Ya know? The car is technically the daily but i travel for work, I'm home 3 days a month at most, the car stays at home when im gone, so pulling the motor isnt an issue its been out twice since ive owned it.

I just can't enjoy the car being so damn slow, i get beat by nearly everything, the reason I have the car, is my father promised my step mother a british racing green r53 mini cooper s if she beat her 3 year battle with stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma, well unfortunately she didn't. I found a brg r53 and had to have it. took a year to pay off but i absolutely cannot get rid of it for that reason so please i beg you mini gurus make me love this car. Money is not an issue for this reason I make a decent sum of it and i would like to know what the best **** to buy is. Id honestly probably be happy at 250+
