New member. Waiting on my F55
I've been wanting to get a MINI for several years now. I've always had a few options as "my next car," and it was always a MINI and something else. But I would always come back to wanting the MINI. Then I took one for a test drive a few months ago, and my mind was made up. My 2004 Saturn Ion has treated me well, although the A/C went out a few years back (I live in Florida), but I figured it was time to upgrade to what I've wanted for years. I ordered the 4 door February 13th, hoping to get it (and it's A/C) prior to the 9 months that we here call summer. It's been sitting on a dock in England for a week now and I am so antsy to get it. I look forward to being part of this forum and playing with my new MINI.

Welcome to NAM and congratulations on the purchase of your F55! Give us some details about it. What color combination did you go with?

A/T 4 door S, Moonwalk grey with black top, Moonroof, Wired package, LED headlight package, comfort access key, black 16" rims.
There are a few things I would have liked to add, but the price would have gotten a little too high. H/K stereo and the garage door opener narrowly missed the cut. I think 17" rims would have looked nice, but the cost of replacing the tires later kept me in the 16" ones.
I limit myself to calling ASK-MINI once a day for updates. I keep checking the Wallenius website, but it keeps saying "no records found." The suspense is crazy, especially since I know that once it is on a ship, it still has weeks before I see it.

I love Moonwalk Grey. Looks like a great package deal! You can always upgrade the stereo system to a great aftermarket one in the future. Yes, the smaller the rim size of the wheel the cheaper the tires. You can always upgrade in the future with that as well. I hope time goes quickly for you so that you don't have to wait too long. I know how tough it must be waiting. Be sure to share some pictures with us once you pick it up!

If its not showing up on the WW website, its most likely booked on a K-Line ship. They've been running late by several days. ASK-MINI typically doesn't know until 2-3 days after its already on the ship.

Welcome to NAM and congratulations on your first MINI. I just drove my new F55 S, manual transmission, off the lot 2 weeks ago and am loving every minute behind the wheel! I bought mine from the inventory the dealer had in stock. Mine has almost the exact features as yours and even the same color. I'm sure the anticipation is killing you. I also am in the same boat as you. I have been drooling for a MINI for almost 15 years, and finally took the plunge, and couldn't be happier

If you have your VIN, go to https://www.2wglobal.com/
Under Track and Trace, you can use your VIN for the Cargo ID and see what ship it is on.
I also just called ASK-MINI. They still say it is at the port, just as ol.miniusa.com does. I think this is just very slow to update, since 2W shows it was loaded on a ship days ago, and is halfway across the Atlantic now. Yours probably is too.

So the ship is a few days away from unloading my car. I'm so excited, I just youtube'd a video of unloading a Ro Ro ship. Given how fast they drive the cars, and how close together they park them, now I'm a little more nervous...
After watching the Italian Job last night, I don't know if I can wait the next couple weeks. I'm definitely glad I ordered the one that I want though, it does make the experience more rewarding.

I just got word that she's landed on US soil. It should be at the dealer Saturday. I hope to be able to pick it up on Monday or Wednesday.
Now I have to figure out how much the dealer would charge to tint it. I prefer to not go with an outside shop to do it, but I don't want to pay a ton from the dealer...

Awesome
If you get it done at the dealer they will most likely have an outside place do it, unless they offer it. What tint level ?

The dealer doesn't do it, but they recommended a vendor. A buddy I work with knows a good shop that would do it for $150. 30% (which I guess is as dark as I can legally go), Lumar with a lifetime warranty. I called the dealers vendor, but he hasn't called me back yet.
It's already at the dealership. I hope to pick it up Saturday night.

ok, 30-15% is the typical range for MINIs. The more dark, the more you can only do certain windows, i have the rear limo tint on my R58 right now, looks good.

I want to keep all the windows the same grade, and I don't want to have to worry about getting a ticket for them being too dark either. So I'll probably stick with 30%. The dealer didn't really sound too enthusiastic about their "recommended" vendor, so I'll probably go with my coworkers friend.
