New 07 R56 Cooper

98000 on the clock, Lightning Blue/White, bone stock as far as I can tell. Interior/exterior in excellent shape, good service records.

I tinker with older BMWs (E24, E28) - it appears elbow room is minimum underneath the Cooper.

I am glad this forum is here - I will keep reading until I have an intelligent question.

Cool...I'm glad to hear that you got the base model...a lot less problems as compared to the N14 engine.

I look forward to seeing the pictures!

Don't think I qualify for the timing tensioner fix, though - unless the parameters have changed. Service records do not indicate it has been done; it's not an issue now - hopefully if I do the oil changes every 6000 or so and keep her in fighting trim it won't be.

Right now just reading and poking around. Slight intermittent oil smell from engine front - oil level remains consistent, no obvious leaks. Crank seal, o-ring, gear oil - won't know until I can get her up in the air again this week.

Bentley on order.

Yea, its does not have the turbo problems, but I would check the thermostat housing and the water pump and if it have been changed.

Let me know , here to help.

Those done - I do need a windshield cowl set - does your kit contain all the parts in the link? #1 in the schematic is deteriorating and needs replacement - thanks!

Welcome to NAM! Assuming this is your first MINI? If the service records don't indicate it, I'd probably do a coolant flush. The cooling system is one of those often areas that are neglected on MINI's. Otherwise, definitely looking forward to those pictures! We also have a lot of free tech articles on our site that can help along with this forum and your Bentley Manual.
