R56 Hooning Car
My project R56 has begun! I would love some tips from what has worked for you! Long time BMW fan, new to minis but starting to fall in love.
Heres the plan
-Straightpipe Cat delete
-Joey Mod
-Wheels (what do you recommend?)
-Spacers
-Coil overs (BC Racing?)
-Turbo Upgrade
-Body kit
-Hub adapter and wheel
What else am I missing? This needs to be a hoontastic car.

Ok todays plans delayed so just waiting about,,,, a true hoonagan as in spinning wheels and sliding about????????
I would go for a tire wheel combo that has the smallest overall rolling diameter, and are good and cheap,,, and light, enki rpf1 have served me well but are quite standard now. I had conti dws that were on 16's 1.5 inches less tan 17's and they had soft sidewalls so low rolling diameter
next work in a boost controller ECU with programmable curves and scramble, Ive kinda made my own.
next I want to try a hydraulic parking break ive unsprung mine
LSD is on the list Ive gone wave track, you could weld but that needs commitment...
Oh intercooler needs upgrade for any fun, Aquamist can add a bit of fuel 100 meth even but mixes ok can run without but be careful in high heat
adjustable rear roll bar adjustable links all around (learn about preload a bit advanced)
I run Meagans, I like them some dont
adjustable lower rear arm, poly bushings full in the rear or even solid but solid are super rough so black poly rear purple front
Camber as much as you can, probably 0 toe front I like a little though havent gone toe out but maybe after my drysump build
If you go for a big turbo and power you need con rods, if its going to be a true ripper then reuse as much as possible even bearings if they look ok new rings hone a bit more 45 ish, for a ripper dont go for perfection plan on going back as needed or as Ideas come along.
port the head, but the exhaust side is important, if you can swing a custom header or build one,
Lighten the car,,,,, add top strut bar brace as much as you can
wilwood brakes but do a kit that allows 16's or even 15's hawk pads
find a local airport see if they have a skid pad, also dirt roads and tracks yessss.
HMMM if going for high G's spinning about, at least accusump but understand it is one shot then needs recovery dry sump is better just a bit not straight forward on these so Im on and off on how I want to do it, add mecanical gauges,
Oh on the thermostat rig an over ride on the electric valve keep temps to 180 F
Oh clean intkakes and exhaust seafoam pistons
decide what to do on the crank case breather, Tap a new AN12 or 16, run to a can then well its up to you. vacuum is good but...... if going to the intake use a diesel vacuum reguator
On turbo size and compression choices well Im on a Franken Turbo so k04 basically
I think larger is OK even one size too big cut in at 2800-3000 ok with 6 speed gearing and gets into the mid torque, just needs more commitment and up graded clutch dual mass has to go......
thats a good start super wide wheels 275 are on my list but well Im in my wish list a bit here.
learn to take the front off, service mode is not the same, ac can be set on boxes. or taken off????
Something else got lost oh well
