new to motoring

hi, i'm brian, we ( the wife and I ) bought a r56 s model last summer, and we've been taking it every were, so far motd 16" and mtts '16. and now I work on it, and there seems to be a lack on info on the web of these cars. so here I am.

we blew out the front struts and more on mtts. so I have new struts ( bilsteins ) on and as well as new strut mounts ( kyb), and bump stops ( rock auto special ) and I still got rattles. all bolts that I touched have been torqued to spec.

thanks for any help, and keep motoring

Hello Brian. I was on MTTS 2016 also.

Whats the rattle noise ? Where is the exact location. Did you hit someone to blow out the struts ?

Welcome to NAM and the world of MINI Motoring! I assume the bushings up front are all in good shape? Is there more noise when turning the wheel and/or taking a corner?

the noise happens on ruffer roads/ aka big holes/ bumps, it's more of a klunk type noise. I don't believe I had it before I replaced the struts. as for loc, it's in the wheel area, either a control arm bushing, or a part that cycles with the wheel. rt 75 through Detroit took it's toll, as did a side road over rail road tracks in ohio going out to lake erie.

these are bolts I undid for the struts and what I torqued them too.

lower bj 100 or 120 foot pds can't remeber
tre 35 ft pds
strut pinch bolt 60 or 80 ft pds
upper sway bar link 40 ftpds
upper strut mount studs 25 ft pds
strut stud to the upper mount 50 ft pds

thanks for the help, to this new to me, way small fun go kart

thanks we put on over 10k in it's first year in our hands, and have run it a bit hard. the bushings on the lower front arms, I can't see much with the car on the jack. I really can't get it as high as i'd like. the arms seem centered unlike some pics I saw online, of really bad bushings. no noise in the corners, or turning the wheel, just over very bumpy roads. most roads you wouldn't hear it on.

i'm leaning towards the power flex street bushings, they seem a tad easyer to put back in vs the o.e. i'm not apposed to upgrades as the old girl needs new parts.

thanks
