Giday from Spider (down under)

Hello to all the MINI Owners,

I too am a Mini Owner (also a Moke Owner), but of the previous generation. yes, I know these are totally different cars, not nearly of the same bread as yours!

I hope, none the less you guys will welcome me, although I'm new to this forum, I'm not new to forums in general.

So, what am I doing here? Well, I'm hoping I can call on some of the good folk here for some help and guidance.

One of the big things I am in to is modifying our cars, usually for the better! Not always to make them faster, but to hopefully modernise and make them more reliable, while taking them from being fun to loads of fun .

The other thing I LOVE to do (I recon I was born for in fact) is to travel our wonderful Australian Outback - in my Moke if i've done this right, there should be a link to my web site (photo album really) below, which you are all welcome to have a look see.

Cheers guys,
Spider

Welcome to NAM! We love Classic and New MINIs, and have been working with both for over 40 years on the street and track.

Feel free to ask any questions, and please stop by our website where you will find plenty of info on both types.

I've always been a Moke fan but never owned one. Owned a '67 Cooper S, and then two racing cars, and now an R53.

Drive Hard. Drive Safe. Keep Grinning.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

Here's a few from the collection.

1275 LS. These are an Aust Built Car, a run out model in fact, and this one is the 39th Last Mini made in Aust. They are very similar in spec to the UK 1275 GT

This one's been in the family since about 1976, Ex-Highway patrol Clubman GT. In standard form, these were the same mechanical spec as a MKII Cooper S, however in Highway Patrol Form (SPO28), they had a few added goodies to make them even quicker.

Another Clubman GT in the collection

My first Moke (circa June, 1985) heading home at the tale end of a 10 000 km (6 000 mile) outback trip.

My wife's Moke, next to an F350

I'm sure the Moke would easily fit in the back seat of that truck!

Here's me on top of Big Red with my Moke.

Big Red is the biggest Sand Dune in Aust, so big they gave it it's own name! Reputed to be 40 metres high and this is the first time a Moke has ever made it up, though there's been about 20 - 30 attempts going back to the early 70's.

A bit of a peak of some of the modifications and stuff I do, here's a special gearbox I did a couple of years back

Classic Mini Moke

Any mechanical problems with the 6,000-mile Outback trip? Was Mad Max out there?

BTW, interesting article here on Australian and other Classic Minis:
