Key fob

Just purchased a pre-owned 2015 Mini Cooper Hatchback. The car came with only 1 Key Fob. I want to get another and have seen them on different sites where I can order on line but it still has to be programmed to match the car. Any ideas of where to take it other than the BMW dealer. (the one near me are a bunch of snobs and really don't want to bother with a small job). Also, what's a fair price for the unit and programming?
thanks

AFAIK, dealer is your only option. You can do on-line and save a few bucks, Mini Massachusetts on-line site has a discount. They need you to fax proof of ownership, etc.

When I bought my car used I was faced with the same problem. The salesman finally looked in the office files and found the second key.

This issue has been hashed over a brazzillion times on this forum and it always comes down to providing proof of ownership (copy of DL and registration) and VIN to the DEALER. The money you think you are saving thru ebay or other such outfits will not come back to you when you eventually have to order from the dealer and buy one that works.
This is a voice of experience.

Welcome to the forum

And I agree with the dissatifaction with the BMW dealerships. A local one to me had all the HandiCapped parking filled with cars for sale except one. When I complained of this and they had no plates or stickers, they only replied 'You found a parking space didn't you ?" And BMW corporate doesn't care with the reply they don't own the dealerships so they can't do anything ...

Now that the key fob issue has been addressed, welcome to the forum and MINI ownership. You will have many questions in the future and hopefully many years of enjoyment driving a car that is far superior to other cars on the road. The forum will help address your questions and concerns and help you get the most out of your MINI.

Welcome and congratulations.
