Hi
I bought my Chilli Red R50 New In Dec 2004 and Its been one of the best cars I have ever had. It has been from California to Florida and back and lots in between. Picked up my first and second born from the hospital in It went on many road trips, had countless large things in it that most could not believe would fit in a mini even put my wife in the trunk for a few miles(with her permission of course) after 189,000 miles the engine blew up so I pulled It out,got a used one from craigslist and spent the weekend putting it back in. all seemed ok and drove it for 1000miles or so without any check engine lights. When smog time came around one readiness monitor (CCM)was not set so she failed, i connected scan tool with no codes but even after another 500 miles the CCM still will not set. I am at a total loss as to why and now she sits In the back yard.

Sounds like you need the real MINI software to read out all the data that is in the ECU as that will likely point you in the right direction since generic tools can't get all the codes.

Hey Thanks for the reply!
I was wondering what kind of software to get, I have seen bmw/mini stuff on ebay, like

ISTA NCS INPA

do you think any of those downloadable software packages will work or will I have to take It to the dealership?I have the creator bmw/mini scanner but It shows no codes at all.
