New member hello! 2021 MCS 2dr manual in CT
Hello All!
I'm currently in the Fairfield county CT / Westchester county NY area and this is my 2021 Cooper S - Paddy Hopkirk edition that I picked up at the beginning of March. I have been a long time admirer, and occasional renter, but this is my first Mini ever and so far I love it! I went into the dealer intending to look at a 2018 MCS convertible but it was still being conditioned for sale. So my girlfriend and I took a new MCS 4 door hardtop that was sitting right in front of the dealership out for a test drive just to get a feel for the current gen. By the way, silver lining of the Covid situation; salesperson-free test drives for the 4 months of car shopping we did! Well needless to say, we really enjoyed it. They only had two cars in stock with a manual transmission (yes I'm one of those people holding on to the stick until they are gone) and the other just happened to be this one sitting pretty in the front of the showroom. While the salesperson tried to find out when the convertible would be ready we went over and sat in this one and just fell in love. The JCW seats and steering wheel, the blacked out elements, the Chili Red, the Paddy Hopkirk tributes, it all just pulled us in. So thank you to the guy that ordered it but couldn't wait for it to come in!
I just sold my 2018 WRX and have had various VW's through the last 20 years. It's a lease so I wont be doing anything serious to it. Looking to get a set of wheels and good summer tires and leave the current Hankook AS runflat setup for the winter months. Also probably ordering the Neuspeed power module piggy back. I had the VW version on my 2015 GTI and it definitely added a bit more fun to the boosted moments so I expect a somewhat similar experience here. Any opinions on these ideas are more than welcome!
I also have an OBDII device and have connected the bimmercode app just to see what I could code if I decide to buy the full version, but I am undecided. I think it will probably be worth the $30 just to get the auto shutoff to NEVER be on by default in any mode. This is another area that feels very familiar coming from the GTI vag-com coding realm.
About the only disappointing thing so far is the high failure rate of other minis in my area to wave back! Honestly there are many, many more slackers when compared to the VW/GTI and the WRX communities. But I will keep trying dammit!
Anyway, thanks for all of the good info on here and I look forward to more.
Here's a pic from last weekend. You'll have to excuse the graves, we like to explore local historic cemeteries.
