Leaking Clutch Slave Cylinder

Hello All.
About a month ago, I replaced the clutch line and slave cylinder on my 2005 Cooper S. It was working fine until lost the clutch function.
Upon checking, I saw that the new aftermarket clutch slave cylinder was leaking.
I returned it and got another one. I replaced the slave cylinder and bled the clutch as follows:
Using a home made tool, I compressed the slave cylinder piston and I used a brake pressure bleeder to get the air out of the system. I did 5 cycles of bleeding.
Now, I press the clutch pedal and I have to go about 1/4 of the way down before I feel any resistance on the clutch pedal.
I marked the clutch lever on the gearbox at it's resting position(pedal up) and when I press the pedal the slave cylinder barely moves the clutch lever.
Is there still air in the system? If so, is the air trapped at the master cylinder?
Should I replace the clutch master cylinder also ( I have a new aftermarket one).
NB: If I apply more than 5 psi with the brake bleeding tool, the brake reservoir starts leaking at the seal on the Brake master cylinder. How do I fix that?
I am working alone so I am trying to figure out what is going on.
Any and all advice will be accepted. I have read the various threads on clutch bleeding on the forum, but I am still lost.
When a good working clutch is operated, how much travel does the clutch lever have?
Right now I have the clutch pedal depressed using a a wooden bar and the reservoir open to see if that would help. I am leaving it that way overnight. (I read about this on the forum)
HELP....HELP.
Thanks
