introduction - just bought my first mini
Hi everyone,
I just recently purchased a 2006 R53 JCW. The car needs a lot of love so I figured I'd join here to learn about this car and hopefully find all the answers to my questions as I work on this little project. I had never really been a mini person, but a few years ago I helped out a friend by driving his 2015 Cooper S on the home stretch of a road trip. I spent 3h driving that little car and was very impressed with how nice it actually was, ever since then I've been fascinated by these cars.
This is my first ever "project" car, and its definitely in need of some love, got some missing trim faded paint and needs a lot of maintenance and repairs. The car is on rep RPF1's, and has a lowered suspension with koni adjustable shocks, and some alta rear control arms that at this point appear as though they were salvaged from the titanic. Despite that the thing rides spectacularly, a tight but compliant ride that will be perfect for little trips and going to work. It was parked it under a tree for 2 years, so its full of pine needles in every conceivable location. Previous owner bought it in 2019 at 130k, then put only 10k miles on it for 6 years they had it. I suspect most of these mods were from the original owner of the car.
This car is a far cry from my daily, which is a 2019 Mustang GT, shown below. The mustang is an absolute monster, but its not a car is can be carefree with. I need to watch where I park it, its loud, and it has insanely long legs. Third ends at 120 mph on this thing, but I wouldn't get rid of this car for anything.
Anyway Looking forward to getting to know you all and spending some time here when I'm bored at work!
