Ordered my '06 Cooper

Been lurking for a while & learning a lot - finally pulled the trigger and ordered an '06 MC. Spec'd the car out as follows:

PW/B, 5sp.; Cordoba Leather; Anth. dash/headliner/Chrome Int./Cold Weather pkg./HK stereo/Chrono/ I've already bought an unused set of R84 vspokes from a NAM guy, and will buy 16" perf. tires (probably Avon) to put on as soon as the car comes in, & will sell the 7 holey 15 inchers & tires.

Dealer was very cool about ordering '06 with the right to modify if something I just have to get turns up as a new option. Thought long & hard about an "S" but I have a 225 Audi TT that I plan to keep anyway, and the standard Cooper just felt really well balanced. I plan to put on a Miltek exhaust as soon as possible.
Thanks to all for the good reading and info. Happy Motoring

Nice car. I didn't realize they were accepting orders for the 06s. do you know when the first ones will come off the line?

Congrats!

You're right- the MC is nicely balanced: gas mi./power/handling. The right mods and you can really motivate.
but you're selling the 7 holies? They're my favorite part. I would have asked for those with an "s" if I would have purchased one, just for the look.

Now just try to not think about it too much while you're waiting for delivery.

good luck-

You know, the 7 holeys are nice - I just like 16" on the Cooper - 17 is too much imho, & the vspokes not only appeal to me aesthetically, they're pretty light (about 17.5lb) too. It's my understanding that the first '06s will be coming through in Sept. or Oct. - but who knows -

mini552,

I'm not sure where you are from but I have a set of 7 holeys that I use for my winter wheels with snow tires and I keep my 16" X-lites/V-spokes mounted with hi-performance rubber. If you live where there is significant annual snow fall, you might want to hang onto those.
