We waited a while, too - ordered on July 1st, just now got our production date, should be built by 8/12. That's just under six weeks from order to completion. . .then shipping and prep. . .sheesh. . .

Worth it, though!
Thank God we have a MINI to motor in while the new one's being built. . .dont' think I could handle having to wait for one. . .ugh!!!

Tracking to Port Hueneme doesn't seem to be as simple.

It appears as if Mini/BMW uses NYK or others to ship to the west coast, vice WW Lines like they do to the east coast. WW Lines has a ship scheduled for departure from Southampton to Port Hueneme on 8/18 I think it was.

NYK ships destined for the West Coast appear to stop in Houston on the way.

I guess the only easy way to watch is to check the Southampton daily departures at: http://www.southamptonvts.co.uk/com/smovements.htm

I wish we could obsess as easily as the east coasters

We should be so lucky!

I guess the only good (bad?) thing is that I'm gonna be on vacation the week after ours is built - actually flying out the same day ours is completed, if everything goes well. So I won't be sitting in front of the computer day in and day out, so I guess I'll just try and find him somewhere in mid-ocean!

Looks like I'm in this week as well!

It looks like I might be a week 32'er! Things are moving along with my Mini, but I may be one of the last to take delivery from this production week (more on that later).

My saga so far:

7/29 - Ordered, and recieved production number.
8/3 - listed on website as 'Scheduled for Production', and I have a VIN.
8/5 - Called 'Ask Mini', told that I was scheduled for completion on 8/12. Don't know if this is true or not, as they said that manufacture would begin on 8/8 or 8/9 (this does not seem long enough).

As of today, still listed on the website as 'Scheduled for Production'.

It would seem that the time required for obtaining a production date has more to do with dealer allocations than with an order date. Mine went fast - I ordered from Classic Mini in Ohio, speciffically for the (possibly) faster turn around time. Absolutely no dissapointments so far. When I ordered initially, my car was listed as a pure silver MCS, without my specs. I would guess that this was to be a stock dealer car if no one ordered it, but it is mine now!

Delivery may be late as I will be doing a road trip to drive my new car home in early October, taking advantage of holiday time at work...good points and bad points to this. I am learning patience, but it will be a fantastic trip. I would like to try and return through Yellowstone, time and weather permitting.

Are all of you with 'manufacturing details' getting this info from Ask Mini, or from the website???

ASK MINI all the way. Best customer service reps of any car company out there! That, and the website is consistantly 2 days behind and provides far less detail...

Sounds pretty good to me. I ordered a week earlier than you (from Classic as well) and have a scheduled completion date of 8/13. Interesting!

In any case, I've been getting my info from the website, so maybe a call into ASK-MINI is in order. I was crossing my fingers that my MINI might be here in time for my post-Labor Day vacation out west, but it's not looking good now.

Yea, maybe that's the deal. It could be possible that my combination is rare with the interior/exterior colors.

But it kills me when I hear people on this board saying that they ordered the week of July 25 and they went into production week of 8/8. I wonder if they actually ordered much sooner or maybe they just had a lucky color combination.

I am in that situation, ordered 7/25 (LY/B MCSa), production completed 8/8 and now sitting at port of exit. However, according to W&W website, the next departure to California is 8/18... that means my mini is just sitting around waiting to get on the boat, unless there is some other earlier carriers that I'm not aware of... otherwise, it will still be another 5-6weeks before I can pick it up frm my out of state dealer at Salt Lake City.

The K-Line also ships to California, but unfortunatly they don't seem to provide the tracking capabilities that W&W does. Keep checking the MINIUSA OL. When they say you've shipped, it means you shipped 2 days ago.

Well, I've been Quality Controled and now I'm either somewhere on the Oxford grounds or on the way to Southhampton. So much for the PATRIOT (leaving Tomorrow) or BALTIC HIGHWAY (leaving Sunday). I hope I make it on the MEDEA (leaving Thursday). Do MINIs ship on any other line?

I was content thinking I was going to be receiving the MINI in "late-September" as my MA told me initially. I really have gone over the top in daily tracking .

I, too, have been relased for shipment. No one can tell me what line, either. I've checked WW for my VIN, no go. . .either shipping on another carrier or the VIN isn't in their system yet. Now the fun begins - MINI tells me "The car belongs to Ralph Schomp MINI now." Raplh Schomp MINI says "It's still in Oxford" - looks like it's up to me to find out the truth!!

I e-mailed K International to see if there's any way to track, so far, no answer. If I hear anything, I'll post it soon.

Thanks, Bill....
In other news, the MAs at Braman Mini are useless. They seem not to understand the "fun" of waiting and tracking MINIs. Today's call to them yielded "Did you check the Website?" When pressed further, they simply said, "It should be 4 more weeks." Come on, throw me a freakin' bone here!
I'd be going (REALLY) nuts if I didn't have you guys along for the ride. (Vent Over). By the way, have a great week-end everyone!

It's a contagious disease

The only way to control the symptoms is to find a support group and see who can identify where the other gal/guy's stuff is right now

...
Oh, BTW, my ship is still at sea and heading for South Carolina... so is Hurricane Irene

At least they look close on the tracking maps that I keep checking every few hours

My MINI Shipped out on the CARMEN... which I'm pleased about, but... it doesn't seem to report it's position at all! I've checked every website I can find for it's call sign, and nothing! The only "Carmen" I could find coordinates for was a ship built in Singapore on it's way to Africa.

Oh well... at least I know it's estimated arrival date of the 22nd. Only 10 more days to go 'till it's in the US, then another 10 or so before I get to pick it up!

BBoy:Good luck on the CARMEN. I'm sure they'll steer clear around Irene!

On my morning call to ASK MINI, I've been released to the carrier this morning, and I'm hoping to make it on the MEDEA (8/18).

How long does it take for WW to put it on their tracking site?

Finally in Production!

I'm finally in production. Went into production around 8/10/05 and now have a completion date of 8/21/05. I also have a VIN number as well. So it seems that finally things are on there way. So given that my production completion date, what boat may I get on? Is it way too early to tell?

Scheduled on the MEDEA!!!

I jsut realized that my wife and I are week 32'ers too! Her CR/B MCSa was born on the 13th...we can't wait!

I punched my VIN into the W&W site and we are scheduled on the MEDEA, which i gather leaves form port this thursday.

rdelar01, how are you getting the details on the shipping times? I would love to figure out when the MEDEA will be hitting NYC. I ordered from Ottos, and AFAIK, their cars go through NYC.

thanks!

and click on "Schedules"

Great news that you are on the MEDEA! I was completed on 8/10 and still don't have a ship assigned

Well, there is a ship leaving on 8/21 (LIBERTY - WW), one on 8/22 (EMDEN - K-Line) and one on 8/23 (MIGNON - WW), but I don't think you'll make those (MAYBE the MIGNON, if the stars and planets are aligned). The next ships are FREEDOM (WW - Sat. 8/27), FRANCONIA (K-Line - Mon, 9/29), and AIDA (WW - Tue 9/30).

That's the info I have readily available. Feel free to check the WW and K-Line Sites for later schedules.
