Is your MINI on the CARMEN?

If so, it's in the middle of the pond right now . It's callsign is S6IW.

My S is boarded on the Carmen. Here's to hoping that Carmen doesn't meet Irene in the next few days. With a little luck, I should be motoring by the middle of next week.

BTW: Good find with the that tracking site.

Carmen heading toward Irene?

I'm on the Carmen too. And Irene is making a hard right, straight into Carmen's path. Yikes.

Bad Irene!

Looks like Irene went with the upgrade. I'm looking for the latitude and longitude position for the storm right now.

How much of a tossin' can a freighter full of autos take?

Found it.

Uh oh... Maybe the Carmen will re-route to go south of it and hit Charleston before NY.

Seriously though... I hope this won't become an issue...

Re-route speculation.

I'd imagine that Carmen would probably try to head south and pass behind the storm. Of course, gotta remember the "last on - first off" rule. I'm pretty confident Carmen's heading to NY first.

Though, after reviewing the storm track and the Carmen's path, I will say it looks a bit, uhhh, disconcerting.

Given the CARMEN's latest position, it looks like they re-routed at 1200 today in an effort to race to the shore before IRENE makes it up there . Juging from the projections, I think it's going to just barely make it by!

We're all routin' for ya baby!

[cue bad music]

Looks like we made it.... Storm's slowed down to 9 mph and will (IMO) pass east of Carmen. Any delays in transport will be due to reasons other than this.

I never imagined I'd ever take such an interest in Atlantic weather events ever, or that a new car would be what prompted that interest.

Now to figure out when my sales rep gets back from vacation. :/

My Mini Cooper S is safe and sound in my Garage, but I personally would not mind being "on" Carmen.

If all follows schedule, I could be driving my mini a week fron Saturday! Once the dealer has it, how long do they need to prep the car? (Alarm and audio jack.)

It can't get here soon enough as my present ride (94 Expl) is, well, an eleven+ year old Ford.

It's only supposed to take 4 hrs for both those installations, then add 20 min for a carwash, but they may be busy with other stuff, so I'd allow for 2 days prep time.

My MA also said they'd probably get it a week from Saturday if all checks out at the VDC. All I'm having them install is the alarm, so I'm hoping they'll be ready for me by monday the 29th! We'll see though... I know they have another MINI comming in a day before, so I'm sure her's will take precedence. My fingers are crossed and my hopes are up!

I too am on the Carmen. Once Maximus makes it to Ohio he gets an alarm and sportlink then we are hitting the road. Plan to hit Detroit and Pittsburgh its first weekend.

Anybody know what the deal is with customs, do Minis usually get through quickly or can it be a hold up? And are all the Minis getting off in SC, or do soem get off in NY?

Is there a web cam at either port? I am going to say that the pics on Mini2 are of my car (how many pepperwhite pepper white minis could there be on the ship?

That is very cool..

BBoy, that's awesome. I figured CO would take much longer and living in NYC was finally paying off for me . If it is that quick, I'll be motoring a week from tomorrow. (When the insurance starts.)

I already bought wheels and I'm making payments; I just want to drive this thing already.

CO does take a lot longer since their shipment comes through the west coast. That's why I ordered out of Kansas to speed up my delivery. After all is said and done, it looks like I'm going to shave almost 4 months off my wait .

My fingers are still crossed that all goes smoothly...

MINI OL - 8 days behind

Finally the MINI OL is saying my MINI is in route. 8 days late! I'd bet I'll have it before it says it's at the VDC...

On the OL

I just checked myself, and they're still listing it as in transit. But I did click "Review order details" and it's listing the estimated delivery date as Aug. 25. The last update from sailwx.info is from 1800 8/17.

I found this. Sorta neat. I'm looking for a webcam and arrivals info now.

The 25th! That's awesome! 1 more week and your baby will be yours!

If the 1 week from VDC to dealership is accurate, I should be getting my MINI on the 29th .

That site is pretty damn cool! How on earth do they manage all those cars? Let us know if you find any webcams.

Turned up nothing on east coast ports. W&W is still showing Carmen at sea so, hopefully no delays.

Mine does not have an estimated delivery date on the details page :(

I go tomorrow to get my trade appraised and the final price on Maximus, then it is off to our banks to shop the rate!

BBoy,
I talked to Gabe today, last time before we are off on vacation, and he basically told me my MINI would be ready for me to pick up when we get back on the 27!!!

I hope it all works out for you to pick yours up on the 29th. I'll let you know if I happen to see your MINI while I am there picking mine up!

That's Excellent news Laurie! I know I don't have to tell you to post pics of your baby once you get it. If you see mine, be sure to take pics of it too so I can get a preview of my new baby .

I'm working on locking in the financing right now but I hope to be done with all the paper work by the time I go in so that all I have to do is grab my keys.

Only 2 more days 'till the CARMEN arives in SC and our MINIs start making their way to the dealerships!
