The SW X-X/XX number refers to Nav software, not data. The data is the map disc itself... pop it out and look at the label to get the version of that. The latest Nav software version is 4-1/50, and I believe the latest Nav DVD version is 2005-2.

NOTE: Don't be concerned that it says "BMW Navigation System", the OEM system in BMWs is exactly the same as the one in the MINI, except for the startup logo (which, don't worry, won't be replaced if you apply the BMW software update).
The OEM Navigation system has been discussed at great length in NAM's Navigation & Audio forum, so if you have more specific questions, that's the best place to look first.

Yep, Nav only. Would be cool if having Nav allowed you to see what super secret version of software was on the ECU/BCM though! And while they're at it, let us change some of the programmed attributes.
During my last service my SA kindly offered to update my programming 'preferences' gratis (after I balked at the cost), but ended up unselecting the 'unlock on engine off' feature. Now I have to see if they can do me another favor and get that feaure back! $70 to change those preferences is ludicrous.
