Hey everyone!!
Neo,
Sorry to here about your deal, but I think chrisfb1 had some good advice for you. I called ASK yesterday and I was told Lydia was in production, but I did not have a VIN yet, That just didn't sound right. Called today, was given a VIN and the correct options with a production week of 40.
DiD,
I heard a podcast yesterday on whiteroofradio.com about the POP in the exhaust and you were mentioned. I'm sure you know, it was just neat hearing more about a week 40 guy . I guess you have a after market pulley. How did that work out. Did you install it after the warrenty.

My '02 MCS has the following
- intake: installed at 7,000 miles
- exhaust: installed around 13,000 miles
- springs and rear sway: both installed around 13,000 miles
- 15% pulley installed around 25,000 miles - Randy Webb Pulley install #2 (it's a collectors's item, common make me an offer. )
Even with all of that, the stock '05 MCS that I test drove was about as quick. Enjoy your '06 and don't worry about waiting until the warranty is up to do the 15% pulley.

first of all. it was great news that we start seeing the VINs.
next about the 45 week.
i called and i was told the same thing. week 45. i ask the guy on the phone why it take so long. and he explained to me the same thing from what i heard few years back when i had my 04! then he realized that he told me the wrong info. it was week 40 after all.
My advice, calm down and go to sleep and call them again and ask them what is the dates for you build week. you might find a good answer.
i can;t say they were wrong today when you guys called, but i could say they might look the wrong date or wrong week.
I need to call them tomorrow to see if i have a VIN yet! nothing for today!

Just got off the phone with Ask MINI (very nice guy to talk with). He said my CR/CR MSC is scheduled to begin production this weekend and should be complete by Oct 1. When I had called early this week, they told me production was scheduled to begin around Oct 3, so it appears I got bumped up. Oh the agony, as I continue to wonder if I should have went with the black top?? But I plan to get red/white checkerboard sunroof flag and bonnet strips which I think will look good with the CR top.

I sent the info on to Gabe at motoringfile -- figured if anyone would be doing any investigation into whether my guess was correct, it would be him.

We're now scheduled for production, have our VIN! Still no details on our order, beyond interior/exterior description.
Now that we have our VIN, suppose it's time to learn how to interpret each letter/digit. I'm sure that's posted 'round here somewhere.
Edit: I just called ASK-MINI, automated system says in production, scheduled completion = 10/4.

I found a link with a VIN breakdown here (thanks Pebbles!):
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...vin+understand
Though, I'm confused about the last five digits (serial number). The last 5 digits of our VIN starts with a "6," which would seem to suggest MINI has already produced 60,000 (+) MINI coupes in 2006. I'm *guessing* MINI must reset the sequential number at the beginning of the calendar year (e.g., 1/1/06), rather than with the model year, with the digit appearing before "TK" (in my case, a 6 = 2006) signifying the model year.

I found this in one of the earlier production threads. It seems we're getting close enough to make this relevant.
I didn't find anything on activities at Port Hueneme for tracking port activity.
