Howdy! I just purchased a 2003 Mini Cooper, 5-speed, yellow/white, Premium Package, Cold Weather Package, Sport Seats, 16" 5-star wheels, Harmon Kardon Sound System, Chrome Sport Exhaust Tip & Bumper Highlights, Black Carpet Floor Mats. It only has 3000 miles! The car still smells brand new. I plan on adding either the 17" S-Lite wheels or 17" BBS RX (17x7.5; ET35; still debating this). Anyway, I'm excited to start motoring!
Wow, the engine is barely broken in! Make sure the oil has been changed--MINI service will change it under the three year free maintenance. Will you make it to the first service (10000) by the three-year mark? Congratulations on the new ride and welcome to NAM.
Welcome to NAM, Mr. DangerPants (LOL, great name)! What a great find!! The engine is barely broken-in and I would suggest that you get the oil changed right away. Post some pix and let us know if you've named yours, yet!

The previous owner took good care of it, even though it was the "third" car and rarely used. Thanks for the information about the free oil changes. I most likely won't make it to the 10K first service by the 3-year mark as I don't drive much myself either (live near subway and telecommute).

Thanks! As I mentioned the previous owner babied this car and changed the oil every few months even though he didn't drive it that much.
Coopers LOVE light wheels...before you go with those massively heavy and improperly named S-Lites, consider an alternative, more light-weight option. You will be glad you did.
Did you get a good price on it? If you don't mind me asking?
Cheers
Yes, I feel I got a great price! So here are the options on the window sticker before I mention the price: Panther Black Profile Leather, Cold Weather Package, Premium Package, Chrome Bumper Inserts, 16" Alloy Wheels w/Performance Run-flat Tires, 6-way Adjustable Sport Seats, Harmon-Kardon Sound System. Price new was $21,215. I paid $18,000. Not bad I think for a car that only has 3300 miles.
I'll post some photos once I put on the new wheels.
Wow, you got a truly outstanding deal! Definitely sounds like the owner didn't research the real-world market, or maybe the money just wasn't a big deal for them. Congrats and enjoy.
Was the brake fluid replaced at the two-year mark? If not that's also part of the free maintenance.
It's going in for service next week, so I'll check to see exactly what the previous owner had serviced. Pretty amazing that even the windshield wipers are included!

Yeah, get everything you can while it's still free!
So, I just noticed the on-board computer and the average speed for my car is 19.7. Amazing.
Yeah, but you don't know how recently that was reset. (You know you can reset any of those functions by holding down the button, right?). If the car idles for a while, the car counts that 0 mph toward the average speed.

The previous owner pretty much didn't know how to use any of the features on the car, so I assume he never reset this. It mostly sat parked and made a few trips to Vermont & New Hampshire, but was primarily a city car.
