Last Production Date for 2006 Models?

I was wondering if anyone knew what is the last production date for the 2006 models? The reason I'm asking is because I want to get a 2006 MCS JCW but I need some time to save up.

Since the last of the 2005 models were produced on production week 35 (August, 29th, 2005) would it be safe to say I should have my order in my August of 2006? Or does the date fluctuate every year?

I don't want to get a 2007 because I learned my lesson about buying a 1st year car.

Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Randy

I dont know about final 2006 production dates... But the first 2006 JCW aren't going to be built untill week 45. First week in November 2005. I would imagine that the 2006 year will be a little short to make the changes for the 2007's

I believe the switch from MY 2003 to MY 2004 was in July, I would figure you need to have your order in with your dealer no later than June 1 for a 2006. July is the earliest that MINI has done an MY switchover since they started production.

From what I was told by MINI of Sterling, they are expecting a 2 month gap between the last MY 2006 delivery and the first MY 2007 delivery. They're already scrambling for sources on used MINIs so that they have something to sell during that time...

That's not confirmed fact, that's just based on the earliest that MINI has done a switch so far...

hmm... so it might be later then June? Okay that's even better. Nothing better then a big down payment with a trade in vehicle.

Ranzo: Learn from my experience. MINI dealers do not want your trade. Unless it is a MINI. Go straight to your local CarMAX. Take your license, registration and get a fair price for your car.

D&R offered me $1000 on my 2000 Stratus. I walked out and before I stepped off the sidewayl they jumped to $1300. I owed $1700. We waited a month and I did the Kelly Blue Book value on line ($3300 Estimated). Drove the Stratus and the MINI-van (caravan that impersonates a BRG/W MINI coopoer in the winter) Let CarMAX appraise the car while they tried to sell me one of two 2003 Coopers. One had 40,000 miles for $19K. The other had 21,000 miles for $20,550. I told them no thanks I will take my check for the Stratus. The appraisal came back at a very fair $2700 for our Stratus. They took $1400 and paid off the loand and then gave us a check for $1300. MrsDiff and I got in to the MIN-van and went down the road to D&R MINI. Gave them a personal check and asked them to hold it untill the check from CarMAX cleared. That was a Saturday. By Wednesday, the bank confirmed that the CarMAX check clared and I called D&R and told them to deposit our personal Check. Got a production number the next day.
