Short on cash, Used IS NOT the answer
I have to warn you about used. The day I sold my stratus at CarMAX they had 2 MINIs in stock Both 2003 models and both MC. One had 40,000 miles for $19,000 and the other had 21,000 miles for $19,500. I only had to give $250 more for a BRAND NEW 2006 with ZERO miles and FULL factory warrenty.
My suggestion is to wait an extra 2-6 months to save up the $$$ and buy new.
But if you gotta go used you gotta go used!

What DrDiff said.
Also, take a look at the market for private sales of A4s in your area - if you can manage it, you can probably increase the "trade" value of your Audi enough by selling privately that it will eliminate the used vs new debate.
A new MINI is an outstanding value; a used MINI is not nearly so.

As always, thanks for the input. I finally got off my duff and did a bit of research, coming away surprised at the price of new. I've not purchased a new vehicle since 1991, as I can't stand losing a few grand simply by driving a new car off the lot.
In my used car research (specifically using www.cars.com), the price of used MCSs ranged anywhere from 19k to 35k. Used! ( try this link)
Since I'd not looked into new at all, that lead me to believe that new were priced a bit more 'agressively'.![Wink2](https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Cheers!

yeah... the resale value on these cars is absolutely amazing! it's hard to lose with one! As a matter of fact I'd bet that there are some cars that are in high demand that could be sold for MORE than what was paid for them if you found the right person with enough money and not enough patience. then again I can't even think of selling my car and it hasn't arrived yet!
