Wind screen question

Do any of you with convertibles use the wind screen? If so, I'm curious to find out if hinders access to the back seat...I mean as far as storing/retrieving items. I assume it would definately hinder entering and exiting for back seat passengers, right? And is it easy to remove and install after the initial installation? Haven't got my mini yet, looks like it'll be middle of Jan., and patience is a virtue I don't have, this is hard!

I'd been thinking about getting one...until I saw the price! I tried out someone elses on my Mini and it does cut down the wind, a little, but I don't think I need it that bad.

Yes, it pretty much renders the back seat useless. No passengers. I guess you could store something very small under it, but would probably have to take it off to retrieve. And from what I've seen and heard, collapsing and folding up requires alot of patience.

Make Your Own

Make your own for like $30.....piece of plexiglass and a couple of straps. Slides on and off in 2 seconds. Passengers can still ride. If you don't like it then make an aquarium out of it. The OEM is GROSSLY overpriced for what you get.

Doesn't hinder my wife from putting her purse in the backseat or school books, and groceries, works fine, and provides a great excuse to NOT have rear seat passengers!
The OEM one integrates so perfectly I would never use a DIY like above:

Yes, the wind screen is expensive. Access to the back seat becomes difficult at best, though it is easy to pop in and out.

Most importantly -- it works!!

It's usually called a wind deflector. If you search for "wind deflector" here on NAM and at mini2.com, you will find many comments.
