I read through most of the oregon vehicle code book (730 pages) and the only thing I'm not in compliance with is the windshield wiper... Not like it would help to have one

Week 6 bump. I'm at 6,645 miles. Only mod I've done so far is to open up my JCW air box flap to OPEN all the time. Major improvement. Low end throttle response is crisper, and I can pull 6th gear on most all hills where 5th would have been required. Because of this, throttle matching downshifting has improved.
A set of 215/45-17 Dunlop M3 Winter Sports are on my original S-Lites ready for the snow to fall soon up here.
I entered in the VTBMWCCA OktoberFast car show last Saturday and won the MINI People's Choice award. Good show, read here.
Bolus, your nutso! OMG - now we need the photo of your cheeky face all fustered up in motion from the wind - nice score!

Good to hear from you guys. Cube, the interior looks amazing. Phil, that shift **** looks great. I could totally go for one of those.
The Mini is still doing great. Did a 10 hour marathon detail 2 weeks ago to prep for winter. I'm just over 5000 miles. Besides a rock chip in the windshield the car is still doing great.
I got him a little brother though:
300hp supercharged Ariel Atom. All the body panels are clear coated carbon fiber. 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. Fast. loud. angry. This is now my track car and the Mini is now my detailing car.

Time for another bump to see how everyone is doing. I have been loving my MINI so much I had to go out and buy a Mini.

1980. 1275cc. RHD. Front discs. 12" wheels
It is going to be a tough choice on deciding which to drive in the morning.

Wow, that is sweet looking!! Where did you get it? Was it just someone selling?
I've been tempted to get one with a honda VTEC engine from http://www.superfastminis.com/

That is cold for SoCal - 29 deg! Winter snow driving is fun as long as you theoretically keep an egg between your foot and the pedals. The DSC and limited slip work wonders in the snow, throw in old skewl ebrake handle action and the S works great!
As soon as I bolted on my Dunlop winter sport M3s these non-run flats took a bite out of my good rallye commute mileage, drats. Dropped down from 29 mpgs to 26.
I also took off the JCW flap open mod and the downshifting throttle response and engine note just work better. Not really sure how to describe it, but I prefer the factory designed JCW air box as is stock.

Any Week 6ers making it to AMVIV 2007? We've registered and made our hotel reservations already.

7500 for me. The car has been dirty for the last month due to the nearly constant rain. Makes me sad Boy I cant wait to start off spring with a detailing marathon and a track day
I got a VBOX performancebox GPS meter recently
http://www.performancebox.co.uk/
Collects lots of cool performance data and exports to google earth. Here is a run I did in the Mini up a local rural road
http://bolus.shackspace.com/atom/vbox/2.kml
Hit 1g in lateral acceleration in one of the switchback turns
http://bolus.shackspace.com/atom/vbox/switchback.jpg
Now I'm testing out integrating the data with video using trackvision software (boring test video)
http://bolus.shackspace.com/atom/vbox/test.wmv
cant wait to test this out on the track

just a bump... haven't really been around much after purchase.
but keyop went back to play with his brothers and sisters this past weekend. we had 42,000 on the clock all said and done.
great car, loads of fun and very few problems - i think it went in for unscheduled service twice, maybe three times. the worst thing was we had 4 or 5 nails in tires during our lease... 17" pirelli's are not cheap.
we now have a white '09 called pen-pen. overally i'm very happy with the new car. acceleration, ride handling, interior fit, noise, etc... are all notably better. the seats aren't quite as nice and the steering is a bit more "plush", but i'm getting used to it.
the convenience package, bluetooth and ipod connection are all great.
the only bad news is it's already in the shop due to some weird engine stalling issues and i'm driving a cooper clubman loaner (i miss the zoomier engine).

Posting in the original thread. I'm at 82,000 miles and still motoring strong — original owner! I've upgraded the brakes to 2009 > JCW Sport kit, front and rear — amazing improvement. Overall, very few issues at all, except for the front lower control arm bushings, replaced these several times. Other than that, my '06 R53 has been rock solid.

Wow, blast from the past. I had to sell mine many years ago. Had a leak to the cylinder head gasket. I would have replaced it myself it if was not for the whole front of the car that needed to be removed and the two $500 a piece BMW unique tools required to remove the cylinder head. The dealer wanted $6000 to do it, almost the value of the car. So it had to go. Lots of good memories
