Welcome to NAM, Pattro! There is a very active and fun group of MINI owners in SoCal, and several great clubs: www.clubscmm.com, www.c3club.org, www.motoringunderground.com. Tell us about your MINI's specs!

All of those are very active and thriving clubs. The final one that's active as a club in the L.A. area is mininuts

I never got my proper welcome . Maybe you guys can train me next time I am there. Or better yet, maybe randy could take me for a super ride so I can feel what it's like to be a super star driver

Oh, I didn't mean to omit WCM, Donna. I just listed ones closer to Malibu. And how could I forget MININUTS, which I helped co-found!?

Congrats! You live in a great area for MINI driving, even if you're just cruising on PCH, it's great fun to pass all those SUVs. Lots of cops though--get a good radar detector. Last time I was in Malibu a few weeks back, I encountered like 5 CHP officers all with mobile radar. I'd recommend a Valentine V1 if you got less than $500 to spend on detector, it's the best in the price range.

As was mentioned, c3 is based in Los Angeles, and offers MINI detailing/car care clinics, track events, weekend runs in conjunction with our sister club WCM in San Diego, MINI fundraising events, and whole bunch of other stuff.

Like WCM, there is no membership fee to join, no hard sales, no politics....just a lot of MINI owners who love to have fun. c3 has 80 members, WCM is up to around 200+ I believe.

Ya, the police is very thick down there. I find spirited canyon runs are best made after midnight. Its safer if you know the roads because you can see headlights of oncoming cars.... In any event, stay off of mulhulland and stunt. The cops love to get motorcyclists on them.

But isn't that usually on weekends and not at night?

It seems as if enforcment comes in waves in those areas . One weekend on and a couple off. As for the popular roads there are spots where you have to behave yourself but for the most part its open. I find its nice to meet up at the top of Stunt or the sceanic overlook above the rock store and then go off to more remote areas. Of course they are public roads and you have to drive safely even it it is a bit quicker than allowed.

Ya. The big problem is that it is very hard to find alot of the remote roads. Im lucky i live up north where i can go on a 3 hour drive in the true back country and not see a single cop.
