It's not the most reliable however, since ship reporting is voluntary. Currently the most recent update for Liberty on this site is March 28

Hoping once the ship gets to open waters, it will update more frequently.

Attention west coast destinations...according to the very nice woman at the NYK office in Los Angeles, the next ship docking in Southampton that will be bound for Port Hueneme and beyond is the Orion Leader
Docking in Southampton on April 11th...
and arriving in Port Hueneme on approximately May 5th
If your production is complete now and you are bound for a west coast port there is a good chance you will be on this vessel. Here are some links for information on the Orion Leader:

http://www.sundayobserver.lk/2002/09/29/fea15.html
http://www.shipphoto.net/orion%20leader.htm
"It takes only about 15 to 20 hours to load the ship to capacity at the Japanese or European ports. Unloading takes a little less time. The cargo, which needs to be delivered without a scratch is secured to decks with a total of 36,000 pieces of lashing material of 13 different varieties."
Yay for the west coast MINIs coming home!![Grin](https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/images/smilies/grin.gif)

Suzanne,
Sorry about that, I was posting at 11pm last nite and was trying to tie up loose ends, forgot to go back to your post.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Your ship is coming! your ship is coming!
Good work on all the sleuthing with NYK, I know the other west coasters will be thankful and grateful.

PS I enjoyed reading the article about Orion Leader's drydocking, how'd ya find that? And are you a spy or a reporter in your life outside of MINI tracking?

Sorry about that, I was just joking...just couldn't wait for someone to be excited with me too! And in regards to the info, the internet is a very mysterious place. Did you see the part at the bottom of the article where they claimed that a coat of paint for a ship like that costs about $100,000!!
![EEK!](https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
So the lineup for the Orion Leader should be:
- Airjun
- Suzannne
- wildfamily

I think I just missed the Liberty...guessing it'll be the Manon? After that i'm not sure what's next. is there a VDC in new Jersey or does it ship to South Carolina VDC and then back to the hamptons for transport to CA? this really has been an amazing experience and an amazing group. i've never had a car buying experience like this where owners anticipate their car's arrivals with such fervor just like me!

Cool. I see the Liberty. The server was down earlier when I was checking. No sign of the Orion Leader yet. I'll keep my eyes peeled. Anybody else other than the 3 of us heading to the West Coast?
That was really cool info about the Orion. That ship can hold 6000 cars!?!?!? And the can load them all up in a little over half a day. That's motorin'!

Unfortunately the NYK ships usually don't appear on the sailwx.info ship tracker. I've tried searching a few of their vessels including the Orion Leader, with no such luck. Let me know if find anything though. In the meantime, I suppose we will have to be comforted by the fact that indeed our MINIs will be on a ship soon and then about 21 days later they'll show up here in the west.
Think we should ask our MAs for a $500 discount since we don't get the Wallenius Wilhelmsen tracking capability?!
