Wow, I can't beleive that the wait is ALMOST over!! A few more days and the ship will be docking and our MINIs will be on trucks headed to us! YAY!!! I was thinking about how quickly that we got onto that ship, and I think that we really lucked out! I know that some people wait for a week or more to get onto a boat.

I was hemming and hawing about replacing the front grille with the chrome front grille and I'm so glad that I did now! But I had to put the front plates on, so kind of obscures the lower lip on the grille :( Oh well.
By the way, a little shot of the interior (with the space grey cloth seats)

No, I don't know that for sure, but today's the day and I did pretty much stalk the CL last night to make sure it did go to PH. But, I'm not obsessing or anything.
Quiet crowd in here lately. Guess the east coasters are too busy motoring.

I loaded the wife and child into my MINI and went up to NH for the weekend. In the interest of piling on some break-in miles. Tried to avoid long periods at constant speed, helped by heavy traffic, hills, and a very nice-shifting transmission.
My wife was amazed at how the car swallowed up the three of us (I'm 6'9" tall, she's 5'10", and my son, well he's only about 3 and a half feet tall) plus our clobber. I was amazed at how comfortable it was to drive, and how BIG it felt. I'd been driving my old 911 while waiting for my car, and after the 911, the MINI feels like a minivan.
I would also say that the wave is not dead. We were driving around the green in Hanover, NH (where Dartmouth college is) when I saw a twin of my car. When the driver saw me, he practically jumped out the window he was waving so hard.
All in all, a great little car that is so far exceeding my expectations!

Congrats on the car hitting land, SFODoug!!! That's pretty exciting. Yes, I've been taking the Mini all around town, but sadly have only put 152 miles on it over the long weekend as I stayed in Boston all weekend. But I have a trip to NYC this coming weekend and a trip to Vermont the weekend after that will hopefully put me up and over the break-in period miles.
