Wow, I bet that cost a bundle. About $50-$100 for materials, but that $150+/hr labor rate must make that one expensive raised bed. Not to mention that the bed itself cost ~$30K.

Yay for being short!

OK, so (relatively) funny story. This evening, went out for dinner with my wife and we're headed to downtown Pleasanton. Parking along Main St. can be challenging since dinner time is an especially popular time to be downtown, but we find a spot within a couple hundred feet of our intended destination. Only trouble is there is a brand new Nissan Titan pickup truck straddling two spaces. This is kinda hard to describe, but bear with me and I'll do my best. These are parallel parking spaces (i.e. front to back not side to side), and the truck is about 2/3rds in what I assume to have been the intended parking space for the truck, and extending forward at least 1/3rd into the space in front of it. My assumption is this person parked in such a manner to make sure the truck stayed nice and neat, which is perfectly understandable if not (at least) mildly annoying. Well, since the space in front of him is "fronted" by a driveway entrance I said, "Heck! I'm MINI, I can fit." So, I backed right into the space, leaving about two feet between me and the truck behind me and just fitting into the marked out space. I love having a short car like this!

HA HA! Yeah, that was one of the big selling points for me. Living in Boston, where the streets are as narrow as they are in Luxembourg, and where Pahking the Cah in Harvahd Yahd generally means driving around Harvard Sq. in various traffic loops for an hour before you find a spot...these cars are like the Car Gods gift to Boston city parkers.

I parked my car last night in a spot in the Fenway area of town and got out, looked at the positioning and thought "There's still half a spot left over!"

Due to mods in our garage we haven't been able to park a car in it. The new MINI will fit with room to spare. Had to clean it out and found stuff I never seen before.

Hey Andy where did you mount your front licence plate? I ordered one of the hole free kits. I like the look in the installation pictures, all the way up. I thought it was overpriced but was impressed with the quality. Can you believe Billy II is still at the dealer. Nine days and counting. We were able to see it at the warehouse along with 8 others. One more day and I am going to raise HELL.

I didn't attach a front plate. I fuigure I will just ride it out and if I get caught for it, I will just pay the fine. Not too worried about it, even though I live about 4 blocks away from a police station...

I got pulled over for it once and the cop (Seattle, in SODO district) was going to write me a ticket but since I had the plate in the trunk he gave me a warning (verbal) if I would put it on right there on the spot. The guy actually waited for me to do so... there not being any other "crime" activity in Seattle at the time I guess.

I'd suggest having the plate with you and just putting it on the dash or something if they make a big deal of it.

I just ordered the GoMiniGo bracket myself. Love the GloveBoxTidy from them too - really helps organize the glove box.

I'm almost to 1200... maybe tomorrow I'll get past the break-in period? I've been taking the long & twisty way to work & home. Nice to have an excuse to put some times on the MINI.

No posts in over 24 hours. I'll call the police, you call the hospitals and we'll find out what happened to Andy.

Oh, also?

Break-in period over! Not that I'm going to go nuts but there have been a few times where those RPMs have climbed fast... now I won't worry so much about it.

Eee gads, has it been that long?

My neighbors think I'm a little funny 'cuz I get out my bottle of Z-6 or diluted Z-7 every time I get home. I just can't stand it when bugs decide that my MINI should be their ticket to the next life. They should use someone else's vehicle for that.

Oh, and I'm gonna be in Cannon Beach, OR for the sandcastle contest. While that will be fun, I'm not exactly sure that 3 days without the MINI is going to be such a good thing.

Just about to roll 800 miles...

Cannon Beach is about 10 hours for us by car. A little too long with small kids in the back

See...that clinches it fo me. I'm going to stick to the drive through car washes. I just can't acquire more OCD traits. On the one hand I want to jump into the detailing arena, but on the other hand I know it will drive me :impatient !!! So I'm just going to step away from the Zaino while I can! Helps that I park my MINI on the other side of the building at work (so can't see it from my office), and it's hidden by some shrubs at home, so I can't see it that well from the house either.

Yeah, but you should see the shine and reflections when your done. Oh, and the feeling of the finish is unbelievable. Smoother than a baby's butt!

I've never been a detailing guy, but I can see myself getting into it with the MINI. It's small enough that maintenance of the finish doesn't take long, and even the "big" events are manageable.

OK, its 10:50 and I just got in from washing and Z-6-ing His Royal Highness. I was entertaining the thought of giving him a wash before we had to go to my dads house tomorrow, and I ended up doing it tonight. It was fun! The neighbor kids were out playing hide and seek in my garage. I love the fact that kids just see things so black and white. One of the younger girls asked me why I was washing my car, not because it was dark out, but because its new. But now he looks all presentable to go over to my dads and then to bingo with friends tomorrow night at the indian casino. I have a problem... The hard part now is not taking him out for his first night drive!

My tire pressure warning light came on again last night while I was driving. I checked the air pressure in all the tires and they seemed ok. Drove to work this morning, again the tires seemed ok. I re-set the tire monitor. Has anybody else seen the tire monitor go off without a flat yet? I'm thinking maybe I went over some weird bump in the road that set it off without the tires actually losing any air.

Never mind...I found some answers: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t+tire+monitor

It could have been my fiance leaning on the tire monitor re-set button (not sure if she was leaning on it, but she was in the passenger seat) Or it could have been a brief wheel rpm anomaly. Either way, I managed to get a post in to get our week 18 thread back onto the main page in 1st Gear as it was found relegated to page 2!

Well, I am glad that there is nothing wrong with your tires. Every time I go over a little ridge in the road a little too hard or unexpectedly, my eyes shoot up to the area above my NAV screen to see if I lost any air pressure. A little paranoid much?

On our Sienna minivan, we had our runflats replaced under warranty as they had worn quite unevenly. When Toyota extended their warranty coverage to include the runflats, they went to great lengths to strongly recommend that you use an external pressure gauge regularly. Runflats that have lost significant pressure, but not enough to set off the pressure warning system, do not look flat. However, if the pressure is low, they will wear down significantly. The lesson here is check those tires often.

You're definitely right Doug. I got home from the dealer and my tire pressure was around 25psi all the way around. Since each tire was equally low, it didn't trigger the tire pressure warning system. Shame on me for not checking the tire pressure at the dealership I guess, since you really can't tell by looking at them. I always carry an accurate gauge in the glovebox but didn't have one with me for that trip.

I check about monthly on my cars.

My car definitely gets lots of looks and comments. Its really a stunning car.

I finished putting on the chrome grille last weekend, which to me really completes the look.

Also, I called ASK-MINI just for old times sake (and to test a new bluetooth headset thingie) and it says my MINI is still in transit. I guess, in a way, it is still in transit from here to there all the time. Motor on!
