I just reached 3K miles. How's everyone else doing?

I received a small rock chip along the way - up on the white roof just a bit behind the windshield. Its only about 1mm in size, so its not a biggie. Need to find the white paint touch-up kit.

I'm averaging 24 around town with lots of stop & go traffic. On the freeway trips I get about 29-30.

Pulser

Just installed the third brake light pulser. I think it adds saftey. Some don't seem to think so. Only time will tell. Donna also wanted the checker decals added in front of the door. Still at the shop. Hope its what she wanted.

I'm running around 27MPG too.

I just passed 4000 miles yesterday! Still enjoying the car. I get comments everywhere. My kids complain about the lack of room in the rear seat, but they manage.

Eh, kids should be seen and not heard anyway. HAHA.

I just passed 8000 and last night on the way to the casino I got my first rock ding in my window. Blah. I need to fill it before it spreads. Anyone have any tips?

Add me to the list of MINIs that have been rear-ended. :( My MINI has some damage on its rear bumper and I am headed off to the doctor's office to be checked out. I think I'm okay, just some sore neck/back pain.

A young gal in a Corolla rear-ended the 3000GT that was behind me, and that pushed him into me. A little chain reaction and luckily there was a witness and the police ticketed the girl in the Corolla.

Hopefully my MINI will be like new again with a new bumper cover and anything underneath that might need replacing. Visually the car looks fine except for a sort of rumple in the rear bumper cover. I'll have to see if there is any other damage.

Coming up on one year!

So a year ago, we were all sweating out the production and shipment of our MINIs. Why is my car stuck in the paint shop. Will the Courage make it through that deepening North Atlantic storm? What does it mean that my car is still stuck at the port? Is this what happened?

So, if you're still getting notified when this thread gets updated, share a bit of what your first year of MINI ownership has been like!

I've got about 7500 miles on my car, and it's been trouble-free with two minor exceptions:

- At speeds above about 85 MPH (or, say driving 70 MPH into a 20 MPH headwind), the driver's side rear-view mirror vibrates (just like a real Mini).
- With the transmission in neutral and the clutch up, you can hear a rattling noise (this is the well-known dual-mass flywheel problem).

Neither of these problems bother me much, although I will ask the dealer if there's any reliability problem associated with the bad flywheel, and if so, I'll get it replaced. And maybe get them to fix the mirror too.

Since purchasing the MINI, my family increased from 3 to 4 people with the addition of a new baby:

Our main family car became a Honda Odyssey minivan, but the MINI is no longer a very workable backup car. So I had been thinking about replacing the MINI with a new VW Rabbit or possibly a Nissan Versa, both of which have four doors and roomier back seats. And both of which would cost less than my MINI is worth.

But after driving those cars, no way. The MINI is unbelieveably more fun to drive. So if we need a backup for the Odyssey, it's off to Enterprise for a rental minivan.

Great idea - kinda like a Prod Week 18 reunion!
I've go a mere 8500 miles. Nothing major at all, knock on wood.
Small problems - those pesky white wear marks on the roof, and minor squealing from the brakes occasionally.

Having a blast, drove topless all winter long, but am still waiting to shed the earmuffs, gloves, and blankets! Will spring ever arrive???

Hosted a meet of my own, attedned a few, including one for Make A Wish around Christmas time where I got lots of local merchants to make some very generous donations.

Have met some great folks due to my obsession!

Tubwreck - those kids are nearly as cute as your MINI!!
Oh alright, they're cuter - congratulations!

I fugured someone was going to beat me to this whole Week 18 Reunion thing.

I have about 14000 miles on His Royal Highness, the Earl of Grey. I drive him a lot, what can i say.

Only one major problem, and that was when I went to get into my MINI on Christmas Eve, he wouldn't start. Nothin. The Power Steering Motor was out. I heard it when I finally had AAA come out and jump it and when I got to the dealer and turned the car off. But it was only a one day at the dealer thing, and I had a convertible. On December 26th. In the middle of winter. In a rainstorm. So, I put the top down in the garage and sat there for a while.

I only have 2 very, VERY small dings on the car. One in the chrome stripon the drivers door. No idea how that happened, and one very very, very small door ding also on the driver side. Its so small, only I notice it. I have 3 dings in the wind screen, and they have only been here since about January or so.

But, without further ado... Here he is... His Royal Highness...The Earl Of GREY!!!!

Still looks as good as new. Of course I wash him at least once a week. And even washed him in 40 degree weather with dishwashing gloves cause the water was so damn cold.

And, the most amazing thing of all....NO TICKETS!!!!

Tubwreck - The family looks great, and I think that its almost time for you to upgrade to the Clubman!

zzMini - Good to know that you are following the rules of the convertible!

Now, where the hell is everyone else?
